Wests Tigers release Adam Blair
Wests Tigers have today confirmed that the Club has granted Adam Blair a release from the final year of his contract.
Blair has played 192 NRL games since debuting for the Melbourne Storm in 2006, with the New Zealand international joining Wests Tigers for the 2012 season.
At Wests Tigers Blair played 71 games, missing just one match during his time at the Club, including not missing a game in the last two seasons, with the 28 year old scoring four tries during that time.
Wests Tigers Head Coach Jason Taylor thanked Blair for his commitment to the Club and wished him well for his playing future.
“On behalf of Wests Tigers I’d like to thank Adam for his effort and commitment both on and off the field during his time at the Club,” said Taylor. “It’s impressive to note that during three seasons with the Club Adam didn’t miss a game through injury, sitting just one out through suspension.
“Adam played an important role in Wests Tigers’ Leadership Group and we wish him the best of luck for the 2015 season and beyond,” he said.
Taylor also stressed that while Wests Tigers had released a number of players since the finish of the 2014 NRL season the Club won’t be making any major signings ahead of 2015.
“By releasing Adam and a couple of other players recently we have had some relief in the salary cap,” said Taylor. “But I need to make it clear this doesn’t mean that we’re going to be signing up players between now and the start of the 2015 season.
“We’re planning for long-term success here and any decisions regarding signing new players will be made with this in mind,” he said. “We have a great group of young players coming through the Wests Tigers system and from what I’ve seen of them so far I’m confident that they will develop into a strong group of NRL players.
“I can assure Wests Tigers Members and supporters that we have a clear recruitment strategy and we are committed to building a successful Club that will challenge for premierships,” said Taylor.

Just a thought, I wonder how much of this has to do with Tedesco? Still hasn't put pen to paper and there has been rumours that they cannot fit him in. Still have hope it's smoke and mirrors to pick someone else up.

In any case, I don't think Taylor would be arseholing players left, right and centre without any real consideration for who they'd be looking to pickup.

Our cap management must have been unfathomably bad if we don't have any space even after offloading some decent contracts (Fulton, Blair, Anasta etc).

You suspect there are some barely first graders on massive coin.

Say what you want about Blair, but he was good this season and our backrow is going to be a lot worse without him.

People keep throwing Anasta's name up, he was never ever part of the 2015 cap, he was only contracted to 2014.

Anyway what in the hell is going on????The place is a shambles, we have released Blair,Austen and Thompson, close to our best players in 2014, replaced them with a couple of fringe Fgrades and we are not going to be signing anyone else of any note.

Hate to be Mayer trying to drum up membership and sponsorship interest. We will start a very short priced favorite for the spoon

I just hope the Tigers won't be paying much of Blair's 2015 contract wherever he ends up. Rumour is the Broncos so they should be able to pay the full amount. He was great in the 4 Nations - was looking forward to what he could produce in 2015 if he kept up that attitude. Hopefully that rep form has got the Broncos excite enough that they won't want the Tigers to subsidise him.

Has been great for both Bellamy and Kearney in the past and was bad in his first year under ..... Sheens.
Would of thought Taylor would have backed himself to get the best out of Blair because Bennet sure will.

Watch Blair tear us apart when he plays us. Oh well, I bagged him in his first two years but was happy the last couple...good luck to him.

He improved significantly over the last 2 seasons. I reckon he is a big loss. The only benefit to us is that he has probably been getting paid overs.

I'm not so concerned that he's gone
I am more concerned that redoubt seem to be looking to replace what we are letting go..

Like him or not, this leaves us very very skinny in the back row for next year.

Even more troubling is that pretty much all of the back rowers we have are small, taking us back a step to the Sheens era of having a small pack.

If we are talking Lawrence and Siro in the back row as starters (and we are running short of numbers here....) I would guess we again have the smallest pack in the league - joy.

I mean - who else do we have ffs? Im struggling to find three, let alone reserves AND depth.....
