anyone who says tevez isn't good enough for first team football should start actually watching games and then learn to comment on a player after that

...and is still better than Tevez.

Please, the guy has the heart the size of a tadpole. He can do great against lower teams, but when it comes to tougher teams, he disapears. Tevez may not be as skilled as Berba, but i will take his consistency any day of the week.

tevez > beckford > berbatov..

berbatov worst buy especially when tevez puts in all the time, seems to pop up at the right time most of the time as well..

Berbatwat is slow and lazy.

You three = NFI

Berbatov had 9 goals and 9 assists in the EPL last year and Tevez couldn't even accumulate half of that with a combination of both - he had 5 goals and 3 assists

For all the running around he does he doesn't do enough to justify his demands.

You failed to mentioned that Berba started in 27 games while Tevez started in only 7. It helps when you play consistent first team football as opposed to being stuck on the bench and thrown on midway through the second half. Talk about having NFI.

Not according to ESPN, which i'm pretty sure is the source you used to get those goals and assists stats . That was the best you could come up with?

Actully my bad, got that GS and SB mixed up. Still doesn't change my point that Berba started alot more games than Tevez did. It can't help your game to always be coming off the bench. I would love to see how Berba did if his playing time was as inconsistent as Tevez's was this year.

He gets more game time because he delivers the goods. But, the main point was people who say he is lazy etc.. are way off because he is getting it done and people who say Tevez is better simply because he runs all over the shop are wrong because for all his running he isn't doing enough to warrant extra game time when there is stiff competition.

At a team like Citeh where he could work off Robinho he would probably pull the goals in but at United where there is competition and pressure he hasn't done enough to take done Berbatov.

I also think it would have something to do with Fergie feeling more pressure to play a guy who he blew 30 million pounds over as opposed to a guy who he has on loan. Berba's laziness is an over-rated point. Just because he looks laconic doesn't mean he isn't putting in. My main point is that i just don't think Berba has the mental toughness to be a guy who can deliver against tough opposition. I admit its a subjective viewpoint.

Head to head in 2007/08 Berba started 2 games more and came off the bench the same amount of times and scored one more goal and had 4 more assists. Berbatov has proven to be as consistent if not even more than Tevez.

In terms of both players, if i had a mediocre team and had to build around one guy, i would pick Berba, much like the Tottenham situation. However, if you had a situation where you have already have a great team like United, i think Berba's effectiveness is reduced and i would take a better worker, also a better finisher, like Tevez in a heart-beat.

How did you compare that? That Tottenham team was build around Berba, Tevez played third fiddle to Ronaldo and Rooney. The fact that Berba was the focal point of their offense, yet was only marginally better statistically than Tevez hardly proves your point.

So he had 4 more assists over an entire season, while starting two games more, and you consider that a large difference? Okay. Whatever. Each to his own but i would take Tevez any day of the week.
