NZ have never had a problem selecting Australian born and bred players like Pritchard, Fien and Goodwin (whose father actually played for NSW and Australia) though

Also if you are going to use the argument of where they grew up and learnt the game, Foran and Nightingale should be playing for Australia seeing as though they spent the vast majority of their youth in Australia. Or is that an argument used only for you to justify NZ selecting Pacific Islanders
