Which is why I mentioned that the term "junior" is used rather loosely...

A lot of players have similar history...Trent Merrin is technically from Souths territory, even though he never played junior reps there...Jake Marketo is from QLD....I counted them both as "juniors".

Joe Vickery is a local junior who went to the Sharks for a year or so before he went to the Dragons

I know what you meant, I just actually thought Scott had actually played some real "juniors" footy for Wests. We only got him as an 18 year old from memory.

The whole juniors thing is irrelevant in the modern age, you can't build a premiership side on just using juniors, likewise you can't have a sustainable team if you just rely on others.

Burleigh isn't an NRL club so I dont think he should be on that list.... I know he was playing QLD Cup for Burleigh before Broncos signed him, but they were the first NRL club to do so (in my knowledge).

Wouldn't Burleigh fall under Gold Coast territory?

Of our probable starting side

Luke Burt (Newcastle)
Joel Reddy (Cronulla)
Timana Tahu (Newcastle)
Justin Poore (Illawarra)
Shane Shackleton (Cronulla?)
Fui Fui Moi Moi (Warriors)

I'm not 100% on Robson, I know he played for Parramatta before Manly and I think he's a local junior but I'm not totally sure. There's always contention over Grothe, too, Wests like to claim him but for all intents and purposes we developed him. Other than that, I think everyone else in the top 17 is either a local junior or brought in from elsewhere way back in the lower grades and developed as a junior at Parramatta...

Al Schirnack & Jason Schirnack are Newcastle boys
Beau Ryan is from Wollongong
Blake Ayshford is from the Roosters
Heighington and Moltzen are from the Central Coast
Ellis and Mark Flanagan are Poms
Daniella, Moors are from Penrith I think
Cayless is a Parra junior I think
Farah is a Dogs junior
Robert Lui and Benji Marshall were never in the Tigers junior system unless you count Keebra Park
Payten is a from Canberra I think
Tuiaki is from union
Keith Galloway, Tame Tupou and Arana Taumata aren't Tigers youngsters either I don't think

I'm not sure about the rest

Though Cayless, Payten, Taumata, Galloway, Mark Flanagan, Tupou, Ellis, Moors, Brown and Daniela are the ones that debuted in first grade at other clubs.

Though don't quote me on any of these. I think Farah is a Dogs AND a Tigers junior.

Exactly.

And that's the reason why this topic always turns into a sh*tfight.

It's a tough call. Ben Ross for example - Grew up in Qld, but Saints picked him up and flew him down when he was 15 or 16, therefor developing him into a first grade footballer.

When people say "you bought players blah blah" I don't understand why it's such a bad thing.. Yeah, great, a club has brought well and are on the road to success because of it. WTG.

And as for the term junior, how is it suppose to be classified? It's pretty confusing.

These are the guys who didn't debut at the Raiders currently in the squad:

David Shillington (Roosters)
Tom Learoyd-Lahrs (Broncos)
Bronson Harrison (Tigers)
Scott Logan (Roosters)
Reece Robinson (Broncos)
Dane Tilse (Newcastle)
Danny Galea (Tigers)
Brett Kelly (Dragons)

The rest I suppose you would classify as Raiders juniors as they haven't come through the junior systems of other clubs, although the likes of Daniel Vidot, Travis Waddell and Sam Mataora came via Queensland.

1. Gidley - Knights
2. McManus - Knights
3. Junior Sau - Raiders?
4. Macdougall - Sharks
5. Vuna - Warriors
6. Mullen - Knights
7. Dureau - Knights
8. Cross - Raiders
9. De Gois - Tigers
10. Taufua - Newcastle Rugby Union - Knights have been developing him for years though.
11. Simpson - Knights
12. Taia - Eels?
13. Hilder - Sharks

14. Fa'aoso - Panthers?
15. Paterson - Knights
16. Tuimavave - Warriors
17. Houston - Dragons
18. Uate - Knights
19. Rogers - Panthers?
20. Tolar - Knights
21. Tovo - Mascot Jets (souths territory?)
22. Ndaira - Dragons?
23. Ciraldo - Sharks
24. Lulia - Dragons
25. Mata'utia - Knights
26. Edwards - Knights
27. Karawana - NZ
28. Mika - NZ

i think that's the majority of players who are in with a shot at first grade with the knights this year. i may have forgotten 1 or 2, and i'm sure i've got a few junior clubs wrong.. but it's a good base for the knights list.

I've got man love for your big ranga back rower Dan Harrison B4L.

Central Coast boy? Definitely a mad Dragons fan as a pup. I'd love for him to come play for us.

Well not nowadays, but certainly prior to Easts buying Anasta, O'Meley and Mason. Back then it was just awful

Yeah, for some reason it all changed just prior to the 2009 season. Weird.

Some would say we were pioneers ;-)

3. Junior Sau - Raiders?
12. Taia - Eels?
14. Fa'aoso - Panthers?

19. Rogers - Panthers?
22. Ndaira - Dragons?

Sau played Flegg for the Raiders so I assume he came there first.

Taia is a Penrith junior but debuted at Parra. Ironically against Penrith in 06.

Fa'aoso is from Aspley in Qld, but came to Panthers fairly young I think.

Rogers is definately a Penrith junior (St Marys?).

I wouldve thought Robson was originally from Central Coast, but could be wrong. But I know he played Jersey Flegg in with the likes Witt, Graham, Tonga. He was still at Parra until 2004 when he joined Manly.
