I'm sorry but how is Bennett Boyd's manager? They were both employees of the club and Boyd had a responsibility to disclose his plans to the club himself.

Saying you won't be available for the rest of the season is also a lot different to running off the the Greek Islands on your club's money.

I think its referring to him ( Bennett ) being Boyd's superior.

Very poor form from Boyd the quicker we see the back of that bloke the better. When depression hits it's near on impossible to open the front door and walk outside or answer a phone call let alone go on a f**king holiday to Greece.

How is he not? The coach is the players direct superior. In any workplace that would make Bennett Boyds direct line manager

Your second point is spot on though

Bennett may be his football related superior in the sense of deciding whether to pick him in the side or telling him what to work on at training etc. However a leave request from club duties is an administration thing. It has nothing to do with Bennett. Even if a player is unfit for playing duties they're still required to complete other club related tasks as part of their contracts. Club related expectations that have nothing to do with playing...i.e. the stuff Bennett is responsible for.

I understand Boyd is the way he is and might only trust Wayne to do his dirty work for him but really Boyd needed to clear this kind of leave with his employers (i.e. the club's administration) himself before jetting off.

Nice of Bennett to stab the club on the way out.

I am sure that doesnt suprise you. Even when he doesnt say anything or avoids the question you just get the impression he is dumping a whole bucked to pooh on the club.

Good on Gidley and the board for holding firm on this. You'd like to think the NRL would have been pushing for that stance too, given it would be disadvantaging our club and benefiting Brisbane.

Personally, I hope Boyd takes a bath on this and pisses off to Brisbane. If he stays on, I don't know that I'd want him anywhere near the top side. He's shown he has no backbone and no loyalty to the club.

Imagine if he stays and he and Uate and possibly McManus start in NSW cup (and possibly stay there). Love it.

A sarcastic love it right? That's like a quarter of our cap in the reserves...

Ummm not quite a quarter Yosh but about 1.1 mill between Boyd and Uate out of a 6.55mill cap in 2015.

Yes it was sarcastic but if Boyd can't fit in at the Broncs in 2015 due to cap space I'll bet he toughs it out in Newy, on his 600K, and Wayne will have the cap in Brissy sorted so he can join Brissy to start 2016.

As Gids said, the balls in his court. He has to pull the plug and take any deal he can get elsewhere. He might not like that if the other offers aren't cherry ripe, so he may very well stay a Knight for another season on 600K and go through the motions. Same as the last 3 years.

Surely the Broncs could back end a deal for him though. There's a few blokes who'll be out the door in a couple years anyway. Plenty of money to go round up there. Don't forget the third party deals they can access ;-) . Just have to hope Andrew Gee can cover them if the third party reneges. Whoops, he's not there any more. Bugger. That's so inconvenient. Maybe Darius is none too keen to take a thrid party deal again. I'd definitely be wary of it, even in Brisbane.

He wont be able to live on what the Broncos can offer if they have to foot the cap space

He'll be a Titan in 2015

The one thing the Titans don't need is another fullback. Not saying he won't end up there, and I'm unaware of the contract situation of their players, but just can't see why they'd pay another bloke massive dollars to play at the back.

Zillman, Mead and.......

Not really star quality tbh especially given Zillmans age. I think they could use Boyd

Not sure if many people know this but Anthony Don has played nothing but fullback up until he started for the Titans last season. He set a try scoring record in Group 1 as a fullback, the season before Burleigh picked him up and he won their player of the year in his first season there playing fullback. All his jnrs - fullback. They have him, Mead and Zillman. Kevin Gordon also has had to cover there. I agree though, at his best Boyd obviously would be the pick. But how much do you want to spend on him?

They should have some money as The Bull is gone and I don't know what Matt White is doing going forward either. Mini gone. Harrison gone. They could also do with a decent hooker. Don't rate the bloke they have there at all. So they need to replenish their forwards big time. Wonder if Ryan James will ever show something when he gets back on the paddock?

Watching Matty Johns show and they had a clip from Wayne B responding to who is the best full back for the Broncos and he talks about darius being the best for the past six years and that he's not at the club so it wil be Hoffman but if he arrives, Boyd then they'll look at it....so someone at the Broncos is about to be off loaded so Boyd can arrive, mr burns and Smithers together again
