I'm not saying I hate Tate.

I just hope at his next surgery his knee gets infected by a flesh eating parasite & he dies a slow, agonizing, blood curdling death, which spreads through all of Queensland & they die a slow, agonizing, blood curdling death.

That's all.

Sad to hear any player having their career cut down by injury.

That said I'm no fan of Tate because of his actions on the field, and some of his comments in the press. You can say "but what about what player x did that they got away with", well sorry that does not justify his actions, such as punching Bird, as that is still wrong.

All the best for the future Brent Tate.

Even as one of the staunchest Brent Tate haters I couldn't enjoy seeing him injured like that. No doubt he's a tough bastard and a solid, reliable player at all levels.

No doubt if it happened to Gallen at Suncorp a certain element of the crowd would boo

Was sitting with Blatchy's blues. When he got hurt they cheered sung hey, hey, hey goodbye and swore at him also. Bunch of classless wankers to be honest.

We can only hope it does and injury is career ending, wouldn't mind seeing Bird in a wheelchair permanently also.......

Punch? That's not a punch lol it was a angry looking man pressing his fist against an upset mans face.

OK then. Lets swap the jerseys over of the man pinioned on the ground unable to move, and then swap the jerseys over of the man holding him down and the other gently wiping his face with his fist. Paints a completely different picture for QLD'ers then. I bet you could hear the whining down in Victoria if Bird had done the same to Tate.

Thou projects too much.

Pete tbf you are a pretty good QLD supporter, probably more fair then I am as a NSW supporter but come on that was a cheap shot in anyones book.

Also I readily acknowledge many of the blues players are grubs, it doesnt bother me at all.

?? Bird's done it about 100 times in Origin since that incident, and will do it 100 times more?

Your point makes is the opposite of sense.

The Tate punching Bird incident has been blown so far out of proportion it isn't funny.

You'd swear going by the reactions that Tate put every single fibre of his being into that punch and really clocked Bird but as the footage showed he realised it was a dog play and basically just rubbed his closed fist in a strange half-assed act of aggression.

This followed a cheap swinging arm by Grant and Gallen trying to take Tate on and showed how great a fighter he was by throwing one and slipping over straight away in hilarious fashion.

That incident doesn't even rate a mention in comparison to the two dog shots he copped from Jennings in Game 1 2012 or from Merrin in Game 2 2013.

The Reynold's tackle was blown completely out of proportion it wasn't funny.

You'd swear going by the reaction of Tate and the bleating Qld media and their fans that Reynold's put every fibre of his energy into lifting Tate and driving him into the ground.

I didn't hear Bird pipe up after the Tate dog shot. Certainly heard Tate voice his opinion before due process though.

Not a good way to end a career. Some of the negative comments about Tate are pretty sad.

Brent Tate would count himself lucky. Didn't end the way he wanted it but he got more than a decade from the game and has plenty of trophies and jumpers (and money) to show for it. I know a guy that had 4 ACL's before he was 21. Tate was nearer the end than the start and went out on his shield. He did well and he'll be fine.

*Is his retirement official? He would be back for round 1 next year most likely, if he wanted to do the rehab.

Absolutely incredible the perserverance, mental strength and determination of the bloke to come back from so many serious injuries. Has honestly been one of the best outside backs running around for the past 2-3 years now, wonderfully reliable and consistent. A real shame for a terrific career to be ended like this, but if he wasn't such a resilient bugger, he'd have had to pull the pin 5+ years ago.

Change the jerseys it wouldn't worry me it happens in most tackles in origin anyway but instead of using the fist the use the forearm or the elbow.

I'm not denying that it was a grub play, just that it's been blown way out of proportion.

What are you talking about? He's STILL bitching about it 2 years after it happened.

Really apples and oranges but nice try.

NSW-QLD rivalry is one thing. But being happy about injuries is not funny. It is not cute. It is not clever. Queensland player or NSW player, career ending injuries are sad. If they make you happy you are a shit human.

He has only brought it up of late as he got his nose out of joint about Tate having a cry after game 1.

Apples and apples I believe - 2 acts that resulted in ZERO injury to either player. But nice try by you to deflect the issue.
