Good argument Reick Fan. I would have thought Dallas had a few more meat pies than that.
Perception I guess.

even so, the perception that he scores many tries would lead to the fact that he was involved in quite a few

1999 - 6 Tries
1998 - 9 Tries
1997- 10 Tries
1996 - 8 Tries
1995 - 5 Tries
1994 - 1 Try
1993 - 5 Tries
1992 - 3 Tries

Bearing in mind the above stats and the analysis, I'm inclined to agree.

We do need to let our young guys develop. A gamble I'll agree, some or all may fail but, we cannot rely on expensive imports (ala Roosters) especially in this time of restricted salary caps.

Yep it would be a good argument .
if only the stats were correct. Dallas scored 64 trys across 8 seasons of which 4 were punctuated by injury.
2 years he was the equal 5th try scorer e.g. 96 when Menzies won with 22, the Pearl, then ikin. then quite few on 14 including Dallas.
Reals stats are
92 -3
93 7
94 1 injury
95 7 came in half way through season
96 14 5th
97 12 6th
98 11 injured 8 rounds
99 9 injured after rnd 13 scored 4 tries in one match
2000 off to the UK

Reefy's stats had a touch more with references to 5th place. I'll give him a 9.
RF's were pretty convincing but straight forward. 8.5.

Yeh but I was giving points for style, the ability to bullsh*t and convince and believing what I wanted to believe.
And dont forget Reefy you lost a few points in the believability stakes with your Carney thread!

Def. my mistake there, even though still, the teams he scored the tries against are still what I said, just wrong numbers but still even then (3 vs Gold Coast, 2 vs Illawarra) average teams at most, most of which no longer exist, Dallas would be a waste of money for the club, for his age and current ability. As has also been stated before ESL is no where near as quick as the NRL, if Dallas worked for a lot less than he's making in the ESL and what he would probably want from us, maybe I would think about offering him something but that will most likley never happen so i still stand on the theory to not sign Brett Dallas but rather offer the money to a goal kicking winger, a younger player or insert the money into player development.

I cant be held accountable because Garbo took advantage of a drunken state I was in 1 night & encouraged me.
How many times do I have to go into bat with the stats only to have my oppnent say yeah I was wrong but if you take this stat out & put that 1 in , see how it looks!
The stats say this about the Dallas argument.
He scores tries.
He used to get long injurys.
merrit drops the ball.
reick drops the ball.
Reick & merrit both under acheive.
Simmons scores tries.

The stats actually say Dallas used to score tries, against average teams that don't even exist in the NRL anymore.

It took Dallas five seasons in the NRL/ARL to get ten or more tries in a season. Why? because he took time to develop. (Took Merritt 2, Rieck 4)

After that he peaked and went brill. (another reason we should not sign him, past his peak).

Give the two boys some time to develop further both of them are still young (Merritt 20, Rieck 24) rather than getting rid of players we already own that have a lot of potential than sign a player who has past his prime and has no potential.

Maybe we'll have to set up one of those 0055 numbers to see who's in front.
To Vote for reefy call 0055-A-N-D-O-S-U-C-K-S.
To vote for R Fan call 0055-N-O-D-A-L-L-A-S.

Cost of Calls are higher if you use a mobile phone.

Dallas is to old, he plays in England which is alot easier. El MAsri is the way, cut some players to offer him as much as possible, ok winger and gun goal-kicker, wat we need.

I think you have done your dash as a stats analyst, as the first part of the job is proofing the data. You failed badly there.
Once you have mastered that, you can practice hypothesising.
The other important part of stats analysis is removing any possible bias, ensuring a reliable result.
Your psuedo also works agianst you there.

Well we have already seen your use of stats previously & how you bend them to suit your beliefs.
SL is far stronger than our PL.
Dallas is coming 5th I think in the SL try tally. 6 trys in 9 appearances.
In a team coming 6th.
So it would be easily said that if Dallas was at the Sharks right now, he would undoubtedly be getting called up to first grade.
Raper & sludge agree & thats why he is being made an offer.

I don't dislike Dallas at all, I just think it would be dumb to offer him a lot of money when he's:

1. not a goalkicker
2. old
3. only going to be around for a few more years

When rather we could offer money to someone who is a goalkicker, younger or can offer the team more. As had been stated the club is full of young wingers, give them time they will come good.
