Craig Smith (Ex Queen) has just knocked someone out with that high knee action he use to have in the NRL. He is still running pretty strongly though...

Wingers flumoux me.
The new line of thinking is that sprinters reach their peak between 31-38 years of age.
Their recovery from injury is also at its peak.
What happens to them?
Does the contact of league break them up?
linford Christie was a definite shot at the 100m's the year he was disqualified & I think he was 39.
I know league players train a lot, but surely not as much as a sprinter. I wouldsay that leagueies get paid more through the median percentiles.
Why an albert or dallas or reick can't be playing until they are 35 or so is beyond me.
Does their drive disappear?

Sprinters usually peak from 25-30 (or early 30's), Christie at the '96 Olympics (the incident you talk of where he was DQ) wasn't really a top contender for the gold medal with Boldon, Fredericks, Bailey & Mitchell in the race.

The reason sprinters last longer than wingers in rugby is they don't have other men tackling them and giving them injuries and strain on their bodies week in, week out.

Merritt had a great game against the broncs. One early knock on off his boot from a skewed ball into the swirling wind was his only mistake and he did some great defensive work....rating 7/10...he'll do me and he can kick. We don't want an old guy with dicky knees and ankles and can't kick leave him in england where he shines against B graders.
The Merritt try had me jumping outa my skin at the game he was flying.

Don't sprinters peak some time after their steroid fix?

    Good call.

Some sprinters kick the bucket and burn after their steriod fix, like poor old Flo Jo, who didn't reach 40.

I think Jamilla Kracthilova the female Russian 800 metre Olympic Champion would have made a good NRL forward.
