It's just twelve month ssince our last halfback couldn't take the heat and upped and walked (or wash pushed, whatever) as well, isn't it?

Talk about groundhog day... or groundhog season. But really, anyone who is mates with Willie Mason probably doesn't get the best advice when they're talking over their life situations over a few beers!

Still if it allows DA to build toward something better next year, then I guess that is the outcome that this decision will be judged on. And I guess there may be other players facing similar situations to follow...

I know it was said that Finch is not heading to SL.

But you never know.

Maybe the gang of Finch, Riddell, Smith will end up together at Wigan and nightly pub crawls

just a few quick points:

first to acknowledge finch for the good work he did do at the eels playing alongside tim smith and then fileti mateo. it wasn't all like the crap he has dished up this year and most of last.

to more current matters-

- he has been labelled the biggest sook in the nrl for a reason. if you look at his attitude toward what anderson allegedly told him it's understandable. i find it unprofessional. i say this by comparison to three things:

1. it's been reported that the last straw was being shifted to hooker on the weekend gone by. from memory he was shifted to rake at roosters when he wanted out of there. surely doing what the coach thinks is best for the team is more important than his ego when being shifted from his favoured position.

2. cayless was on ten sport. basically said he had been put on notice and needs to perform or he's out. big contrast to finch who gets told he isn't cutting it so he wants to walk instead of proving himself.

3. compare finch to brett seymour a year or so ago. gets told by ricky stuart he isn't in his long term plans and gets dumped to park footy. doesn't sook just plays footy - and well. then the coach needs him he responds by not having a dummy spit but by coming back and playing good footy.

just some food for thought.....

That's exactly right. Brett Seymour showed great poise under pressure. Finchy...

id try to lure Monaghan back from the uk or Fein from the warriors, both can play half and are pretty good as well.

Hohia would be very good; Fein would be good; Monaghan wouldn`t be good: he`d be absolutely SENSATIONAL ! Before he went to England he was the BEST half in the NRL - by a million miles! Incredible kicking game, great thinker, good defender, good runner. In my opinion, he`d be the best half-back we could possibly buy. Don`t forget, he was Manly`s captain before Orford, and has a great attitude too. If we were lucky enough to get him - well, it`s just to fantastic to contemplate!

Brett Finch is on $400,000 a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Source: Brett Finch. He stated on channel 9 news that he is owed another $1 million dollars over the terms of his contract. NRL contracts begin in October. He has fullfilled 6 months. Do the Math!!!

Cannot believe it. Thurston is then worth at least $800K. What a joke !!

Before Monaghan went to England he was on fire yes, but not at No.7.
He played his best footy at No.9

It seems that his main beef is that Anderson told him that he may not be the halfback to take the club forward - in other words ....he doesn't have the 1st grade spot sewn up every week for the rest of his time at the Eels .........well if players like him expect to be playing 1st grade every week no matter how badly they are playing then good riddance to them all .......
