Excuse me for being a bit dim... but are you saying it's perfectly acceptable to randomly crash tackle someone potentially half your own bodyweight. Fair dinkum, you may have some good points in your argument, but you've thrown them out the door in your illogically written post.
Prank or no prank, if you crash tackle someone unexpectantly they could hit their head on cement, suffer major internal bleeding, and either die or face long term injuries. I don't think there's a funny side to a 'prank' like that.
No I'm not. I was crash tackled by someone - in an unsuspecting manner - and I got injured from it. Whilst I could have pressed charges (as it was an extremely stupid thing for the drunken idiot to do) I didn't. I laughed it off, even with a huge bloody bruise on my leg.
What I was more referring to - was that being jumped on unexpectedly by a drunken idiot isn't assault in my book. It's an act of stupidity - not maliciousness. Had I been female I could have had the bloke up on sexual assault charges. Yep - touching any female body part - an invasion of personal space like that can be "sexual assault".
I was saying that on the initial report - he'd dragged the girl into a darkened stairwell and he was discovered when she screamed and ran to a neighbours unit for help.
That is sinister in the extreme and doesn't smack of drunken stupidity. But as more reports came to light - it didnt appear to be as awful as was first reported.
However all that aside - Brett Stewart has been charged with assault and as such he should do the right thing and step down until after the charges are withdrawn or the matter goes to court.
If he doesnt do the right thing and step down himself - the club should stand him down. No if's no buts. There's no pretending nothing happened now that he's been charged.
