I understand, you were not who I was referring to. Out of curiosity what is it you disagree with? There's too many arguments going on at once.

Some posters keep referring to the term 'neutral'. To be 'neutral' is to not favour either side. I think what Timmah is getting at is that you cannot claim you are neutral yet obviously and continually show favour to one party. He's right in that regard.

On bias, well there's a bit of it in all of us, whether we admit it or not. Everyone's going to form their own opinions based on their beliefs, understandings and personal ethics. If that were not the case then there would be no such thing as an opinion.

My beef was he believed my view was not based on reason or logic and I was more emotional than himself.

No, it's moved on Eels Dude.

There's a question in green for Timmah to answer that has nothing to do with feminism.

I guess we'll wait to see how he answers. Anyone can claim to be neutral. Yet it depends on your overall stance as to whether you appear neautral or not and if someone claims to be but isn't then I don't think it's unfair for them to be criticized. It's a discussion forum after all. See my above post.

Do you agree that you (or me) are no more neutral than her?

Not sure about yourself, you've seemed extremely neutral with most of your observations from what I can tell.

Myself, I've never made a claim I'm not neutral. As a Bulldogs supporter I probably know how Manly supporters feel better than some... but that certainly means I've got a bias.

a) Neutral doesn't mean "no opinion". You seem to be implying this by disagreeing with Kiki's being neutral on the basis that she's defending Stewart.

b) Wouldn't it be just as likely, if not moreso, that she would have a gender bias towards the girl, especially given that Kiki admitted to having had a somewhat similar incident some years back, earlier in the thread?

in conclusion, stfu.
a) I was referring to bias, not opinion, when I was talking about Kiki's neutrality. I'm debating that she hasn't been neutral when it comes to the debate of Stewart, his standing down and his potential innocence.

b) Knowing Kiki's role - a blogger at oh errol, it is easy observation to make that she has a bias toward football players, particularly ones she might admire. I don't understand how that's offensive, and I don't understand why I'm in the firing line when she's the one who tried saying "oh I'm neutral". It wasn't an attack on her, Sass taking offence started it all and others not reading the debate since has prolonged it.

omg all these people talking about me! LITTLE OLD ME! this is awesome.

as adam said, being neutral doesn't mean not having an opinion. i'm neutral in the way i dont really have too much emotion towards Brett Stewart, i don't think i've ever written more than one paragraph about him on Errol and i'm a passionate Dragons fan so I'm definitely not swayed by Manly bias.

i dont mind if you think that me as an individual is ruled by emotions, thats fine and thats your opinion. but to say it's because I'm a girl..thats just sexist and patronising. if thats not what you meant then okay, lets move on.

Timmah you do not know the 'facts of the case'. you know what you've read in the paper...along with everyone else here.

and i think my view that I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt because he's never been in trouble before is actually quite logical. why is it more 'logical' to hang him out to dry the way some of you have been doing??

u now what else is logical?? the fact that i believe he deserves to be seen as innocent before guilty....considering our entire legal system is based on that exact premise.

I don't claim to be "neutral" in terms of however you are defining it. That is kind of my point - none of us is completely neutral, so why do the reasons you point out why Kiki might not be "neutral" count more than the reasons why you or I or anyone else are not "neutral?

You could say Manly supporters aren't neutral on this - but that shouldn't stop them having and voicing their opinions, or make them any less valid than anyone elses. And, there has been as much variety among manly fans on this as there have been across everyone else's views anyway...

I don't understand how that's offensive, and I don't understand why I'm in the firing line when she's the one who tried saying "oh I'm neutral". It wasn't an attack on her, Sass taking offence started it all and others not reading the debate since has prolonged it.
You're in the firing line not because it's offensive I reckon, just because it's a stupid point. ;-)

And "it all" started with the post you yourself made, not with the first person afterwards who happened to point out it's shortcomings, or the ones that followed that don't agree with you.

hey don't blame me timmah! *kicks timmah in the shins* as I said I'm over the offence - cause you said your first post wasn't really what u meant. but I still think it's a stupid point. if u wanna argue their points that's cool ... but no one is ever completely without preconceptions or bias.

The different stories so far are the media's doing... publishing hearsay or comments gleaned in the heat of the moment.

In any case the only stories that count are those given to police by those involved or witnesses. That will be what the court judges.

The most annoying one I thought was channel 9 (I think) who advertised their 'exclusive interview with the father of the alleged victim', which I was looking forward to hearing to get a better sense of what was happening, and it turned out to be two lines as he was trying to get away which were go generic anyone could have answered it, even if they dont know her! I was p*ssed at 9 for that blatantly mislead promotion.

Yep, that's TV journalism at its worst.
