Thanks Manly for having our League Ad pulled and costing clubs millions.

I hope you have Professional Indemnity insurance.

i hardly think this is like greg bird. he deliberately lied to the police and blamed someone else for it. thats scummy.

i dont think he should be stood down unless charges have been laid.

why is the club paying for the lawyer?

is that counted in the salary cap?

he should be paying for it himself

Agreed entirely. The defence should be his own. It's not an NRL judicial decision, it's his own personal judicial defence.

The NRL have virtually said that you're tainted goods now Brett Stewart, by pulling their ad campaign featuring him. He hasn't been charged, and it maybe an innocent incident, but if the club stand him down then they are saying he is as good as guilty till proven innocent.

Why on earth do allegations of this type always seem to pop up just moments before the season starts??

If the past is anything to go by, this will just will be dropped and it's game on as usual.

It's starting to get like you can predict when another case will happen by the football year calendar.

greg bird and cronulla have now set a benchmark that other teams will be forced to follow.
Load of rubbish. Bird was charged within 12 hours of the alleged incident. Brett Stewart has been questioned and not yet charged in relation to the incident, and he and the club have issued a public denial of the allegations. This case has very few, if ANY similarities to the Bird saga.
well it don't look that way

where is that stupid picture of Gallop when you need it
You cannot be serious. Gallop has done nothing wrong. While the allegation is public and the investigation not yet concluded, pulling the ad until he is charged or cleared is the best course of action. The incident, regardless of guilt or innocence (and I don't like this any more than you), has "brought the game into disrepute".

 They've made a smart business decision to not advertise the #1 player in their 2009 promotion while he is under investigation. They are the facts.
