I would say this though Timmah. If Stewart is charged, then depending on the evidence against him, he should be stood down. I don't think there should be any need to go further until he has his day in court. Difference with Numbskull (bird) was he lied to his club and failed to explain his actions. That made it more an issue between him and his club than the incident in isolation.

I just hope for RL in general, this incident is actually a beat up.

I don't have any love for Manly, in fact f**k em, i hope they fail, but RL doesn't need this, All our clubs hurt from this crap. When we need to chase the corporate dollar and increase memeberships the most, none can afford this type of publicity.

so now it is rape according to channel 10 news....?

another obvious point is bird was charged cos she was clearly scarred or bleeding... sexual assault is not as easy to prove straight up... hence her visit to hospital. she didnt go there for stitches did she?

channel 9 or 10 i cant remember also mentioned he refused to talk cos he couldnt remember the incident, could he have been drunk after drinking all day and didnt know what he has done, could explain why he was at police station til 4am but didnt speak at all... were the cops waiting for him to sober up.... this smells pretty bad, especially with the nrl pulling the advert.

Agreed. Particularly in *insert economic climate cliche here*.

It's all well and good to say the players shouldn't put themselves in the position for this stuff to happen, but at the same time you can't expect them to be wrapped in cotton wool in terms of their private lives.

Too pissed that he can't remember what happened???

He had better start making himself look a bit uglier, and maybe start lifting some heavier weights, pronto.

Thanks to this wanker, it is all that will be spoken about leading into the 1st round. Sorry, if he was a wanker, then he wouldn't be in this mess.

Lastly, any news on who Rabbits will be lauding instead this year?

How much did it cost to produce the ad ?
What a waste. The money could have been reinvested back into the game.
Thank you Stuart. Thank you Manly.

be interesting to see what Manly do should he be guilty. Surely given what has happened to others he should have his contract torn up and deregistered......cant see it happening though!

if he is charged and then found guilty then he'll be spending time with Bubba

Manly won't have to worry about his contract

I haven't seen the reports on nein but if its true and he doesn't remember anything at all about the incident how the hell can Manly deny that anything happened???
I suppose its not his go would be the reason why they think it couldn't have happened.

Load of rubbish. Bird was charged within 12 hours of the alleged incident. Brett Stewart has been questioned and not yet charged in relation to the incident, and he and the club have issued a public denial of the allegations. This case has very few, if ANY similarities to the Bird saga.

You cannot be serious. Gallop has done nothing wrong. While the allegation is public and the investigation not yet concluded, pulling the ad until he is charged or cleared is the best course of action. The incident, regardless of guilt or innocence (and I don't like this any more than you), has "brought the game into disrepute".

 They've made a smart business decision to not advertise the #1 player in their 2009 promotion while he is under investigation. They are the facts.

Not often I agree with a buldogs supporter, but HERE HERE!!!!!!!
