It hasn't even gone to trial yet. This is just his committal hearing. It hasn't even left the local court system. Which it will if he is committed to stand trial (which is probably likely. If its gotten this far it tends to go to trial)

Also, he has financial backing by the Manly club and they will exhaust every avenue if he is found guilty (which is unlikely I would think) so this baby could drag out FOREVER.

Im sick of this sh*t being adjourned

I want it sorted one way or the other

So lobby your local MP to have the courts operate a special express lane for NRL players. :sarcasm:

Seriously, it does seem to take forever to get matters resolved in the criminal system. You'd think a quicker process would be fairer to all concerned.

I wonder what the salary cap rules around Manly footing his legals are. I'd have thought paying an employee's personal legal costs would come under the cap, as the club is providing him with a valuable benefit (ie saving him paying tens of thousands or more in legal fees).

So, the Committal needs to be wrapped up (In May?)
Then the DPP needs to present its indictment to the District Court (6 months to do that after committal in NSW IIRC)
Then, a trial date needs to be set after a few adjournments.
This will have to be a number 1 trial if NSW has a rolling list, and those in QLD are like 6 months away.

There's no way this is getting sorted out by seasons end. Short of it being Knocked back at committal or Stewart pleading. Pigs will fly before either. NSW's system sounds more f**ked up than Queensland's...

THE father of a girl who claims she was sexually assaulted by Manly fullback Brett Stewart told police the star player's pants were open, his fly was undone and ''his old guy'' was visible during a confrontation after the alleged incident, a court has heard.
According to documents tendered during Stewart's committal hearing yesterday a woman then came out of Stewart's townhouse and pointed towards his crotch.
''Why are your pants undone?'' she had asked, then said: ''Not again,'' before Stewart told her to go back inside.

Classy stuff.

Oh please. So dark spot and this guy can see his 'old fella'.

Are the police going to call a line up to see if he can actually pick the right one?

LINK

If this is true, Brett is in a lot of trouble.

So after she ran off screaming, Brett then undid his belt and pulled his old boy out, or did he do that with one-hand while flicking the bean.

Im calling shenanigans.

If it does go to trial I wonder what manly will do with him

Well, my guess is he will immediately be nominated for the Manly Hall of Fame then appointed Club Captain. He will also be given a special $50,000 bonus for upholding the true values of the Manly Warringah club.

Congrats, Snakey - you're Manly through and through.

Also add in that it is going to be a lengthy process to select a jury that does not have any bias or prejudice.

Pretty much rules out the entire northern beaches and any male that follows rugby league.
