Brisbane bombers.. hmm. I dunno.. I think I'd prefer to see the Ipswich jets.

So would I, and maybe this wait for another 2 years might be good for the Ipswich area and give them time to get more corporate support and a stadium by 2018. The Bombers just doesn't have the community support

on the ipswich bid, i think the idea of an upgraded stadium that would be shared between an nrl team and a future a league team may be on the horizon. Ipswich have been granted the right to apply to enter a new australian premier league soccer comp in the coming years (kinda like a national div 2 below the a league)

Where they going to get 200mill+ to build a stadium from though, certainly not the broke Q'land Govt. I'm very suspect if CQ would get one despite the promises.

There are quite a few strong leagues clubs in Brisbane too, Tigers, Wynnum, Redcliffe is massive too. A combination of old BRL clubs that support a Brisbane Brothers or a Brisbane Diehards. Traditional queensland rl names.

I know it sounds very soccer but in this case it is relevant. A "Brisbane United" would be a good idea as it does not marginalise a fan base who hates Brothers or the Diehards; and represents the united bid/team of 3-5 QLD cup teams.

They could play in a traditional jersey or have the logos or club names ie (Valley RFL or Brothers RFL etc) under the Brisbane United logo or on the sleeves similar to Wests Tigers and the Magpies logo

As I recall Western Corridor had a deal to play at Suncorp before the Bombers bid was announced as the State wont fund anything for years and they are using existing training infrastructure so they dont have those huge start up costs. I guess they if they get in they will live and die on crowd and corporate support like all community clubs. The Bombers bid hasnt attracted anyone that I have heard in Brisbane who is keen to stump up their start uo costs.

Any new team in or around Brisbane would have to play out of Suncorp, that includes Ipswich/Western corridor. There's just no way the current government could justify shelling out for a new stadium

WC bid said they would play out of Suncorp until they were granted a stadium, be it 2020 or later

When i mentioned about the roundball and ipswich i wasn't meaning upon admission... i'd assume the WC bid if it was successful in say 2017 would play out of suncorp until at least 2025 as had previously been spoken of... just that in the next 15-20 yrs with the growth in the WC that a combined multi sport ground inthe ipswich region wouldn't be out of the question.

Ipswich is getting a soccer team in what is basically the state league with a new name. These teams get a few hundred people to games, at best.

An NRL team is an order of magnitude bigger...

From Facebook today:

Ok Brisbane Bombers fans...we have our time with the ARL C coming up and we've got a strategic plan ready to show for our go-forward. Part of this is to launch a membership campaign in early 2013 to recommence our push for inclusion into the NRL.

We'll be releasing a membership which will genuinely offer fans value for money, some unique merchandise and some opportunities to demonstrate what it means to be a fan of the Brisbane Bombers.

Get your friends on board and we'll launch the membership campaign ASAP!

And by the way - it will include one of the awesome 'metal' footballs that we've been receiving requests for!

They at least have a logo and their colours - and now some merch / membership options. Perth have the same (I have to check out the CQ one now it's been mentioned).

People living in Brisbane, who like NRL but not the Broncos might be swayed. Who knows?

Would that be the same people who already go for the Titans or Cowboys or Warriors or any other of the 12 teams?

today I bought my first pro/semi pro membership as I said I'd never support a team not from my home region but the new capras management influenced by bid is swayed that
