I'm not against it, in fact I don't really have a dog in the fight, but I would warn that orange and green can be hard to pull off.
Green would have to be the dominant colour.
Like this Irish RL team jersey?

Or the BRISBANE HeatMaybe go a teal type color, like the Miami Dolphins
Just forget the red/orange/whatever stripe, and switch the shorts alternatively.or even better, this design from London Irish Rugby Union club, with an orange stripe instead of the red that's in the photo. (Lighter shade of green, just a simple stripe around the middle)

Yeah let's screw Brisbane by oversaturating it with tiny suburban clubs like we screwed Sydney. What could go wrong right!?
People want to know why the sport isn't as big as it could/should be, or why it's not as big as the AFL, well you reap what you sow.
2050? I think this could well be in place by the mid 2030s.. even by the end of THIS decade if the NRL really focus.
The only team that comes to mind that have consistently pulled off true orange and green uniforms is the University of Miami Hurricanes teams, and even they have got it wrong regularly throughout their history.Like this Irish RL team jersey?

There's a reason that even enormous cities/regions only have a couple of teams in most well run competitions.I don't think that two teams in Brisbane by 2050 is oversaturating it at all.
There's a reason that even enormous cities/regions only have a couple of teams in most well run competitions.
It's because the third team in New York/New Jersey almost always isn't as valuable as the first in e.g. Boston, Kansas, Milwaukee, etc.
In other words, just because you can do something that doesn't mean that you should do something, and if Brisbane gets number 3 then somebody else has to miss out when in reality a team in (e.g.) Perth is almost certainly going to be way more valuable than Brisbane's 3rd despite Brisbane being the bigger market.
Also you can obfuscate all you like, but there's no denying that the more teams you add to a market the more you split the support in said market, and there's no real evidence that Brisbane can support 3 successful teams. In fact considering how the Titans have gone about an hour away, and how quickly Brisbane (and SEQ in general) has been to turn on teams once they start struggling, I'd suggest that being cautious is only sensible.
Right there-Still trying to work out where I suggested Brisbane gets a third team
You're welcome lol.Long term plan for QLD (2050):
North QLD Cowboys
Redcliffe Dolphins
Brisbane Broncos
Ipswich Jets
Gold Coast Titans
This is a good mix of regions and should do QLD forever at NRL level from then.
Right there-
You're welcome lol.
It's in Brisbane's metropolitan area and is close enough that it being it's own city on paper is a distinction without a difference. It's like when people say Parramatta and/or Penrith aren't part of Sydney...Ipswich is not Brisbane
I think the QRL needs to have a 30 year strategy for SEQ. Cities like Ipswich, Logan, Moreton Bay Region and Redland should be represented at Queensland Cup level, with the possibility of them fielding teams in the NRL when their population is big enough to support one.
Ipswich Jets is the only team representing any of these cities.
I'd relocate Wynnum Manly Seagulls to Redland and rebrand them the Redland Seagulls.
Redcliffe needs to become the Moreton Bay Dolphins.
Magpies should sent to Logan and rebranded as Logan Scorpions.
Easts should rebrand as Brisbane Firehawks and take in the districts of Souths, Easts and Wynnum Manly.
Norths can rebrand as the Brisbane Devils and take in the districts of Norths, Valleys, Brothers and Wests.
Burleigh become Gold Coast Bears. Get rid of Tweed Heads Seagulls.
That way every major LGA from Sunshine Coast to Gold Coast and Redland to Ipswich will have high quality RL games to watch every fortnight.
Because if you are going to limit Brisbane to just 2 NRL teams that service a 25km radius, then you need to take games to the outskirts for people who have difficulty accessing Lang Park. The QLD cup is fine as it is, why tinker with it so much just for the sake of dots on a map?
For me the future of QLD should be:
Broncos
Titans
Brisbane 2
North QLD
and maybe Sunshine Coast down the track
You got Brisbane and the 3 major regional population centres covered.
I like your thinking here but have a few points of contention:-I think the QRL needs to have a 30 year strategy for SEQ. Besides a team in Ipswich would be reliant on Brisbane for fans, sponsors, corporates, etc, to exist, so again it's a distinction without a difference.
I'd get rid of Tweed Heads so that room can be made for a team from Toowoomba or Wide Bay. I'd love to see the Clydesdales or Bulls.I like your thinking here but have a few points of contention:-
Is there really much difference in moving Wynnum to Redlands? I know it’s not my neck of the woods but I always considered everything east of the Gateway/Mt Cotton Road a distinct and insular locality/community that see themselves that way. Also, would there be anywhere that would have the same facility as Kougari? I can only think of Junior clubs down further...
What is wrong with having the Tweed a part of our competition? They are so much closer to us and live a part of the greater SEQ community (I actually think they should be in our state). Plus the area is a huge League nursery and I doubt NSWRL would look after it any better- they’ve proven to be extremely Sydney centric. I spend most of my weekends down that way and despite some parochial push back, I do think the locals see themselves closer to here too.
Finally, 100% on Souths to move to Logan. Being a foundation club (of sorts) would it not be a good nod to the past in maintaining the “Magpies”? The scorpz sounds cooler and it did originally represent the community, but it was really for a flash in the pan (put it this way, they existed for 15 years and have been gone for 18 years). Also, where would you have them play out of- Meakin Park??
Again, I like where you were going, the two points are just my questions of it
