To be honest nearly every fan out there wants more sunday games, Take one from Friday, Take another from Saturday.
Start at 12 if the warriors have a game as thats 2pm over there(fox). Another one at 2pm(FTA gets this game as replacement to the 2nd friday game). Another at 3pm(fox) Another at 4pm which now goes Live instead of that shitty hour delay.
Hopefully something like happens if 9 lose the rights. :lol

If we want to keep beating the afl in ratings & get that billion dollars, then we need to keep the broncos on friday night. Imagine a raiders vs melbourne game on a friday night.

Brisbane Broncos Friday Night Tally (since 2000)
2000: 7
2001: 7
2002: 10
2003: 8
2004: 5
2005: 5
2006: 4
2007: 12
2008: 14
2009: 15
2010: 14
2011: 16
2012: 8*

Funny how we won a premiership in the year we had the least amount of Fridays.

This.

Conveniently overlooked as macavity and the "it's not fair" crowd fight back their bitter tears.

I'm starting to get worried about what will happen if the NRL tries to get what the fans seem to want.

No need to worry in Round 9 as the Broncos play the Warriors in New Zealand, unless of course Ch 9 decide the show, which doesnt help QLD viewers cause it wouldnt be live. If that was the case, then that would be 10 in a row, as the following round is the double header at Suncorp.

I understand having a QLD team once every Friday night, but surely you would spread it around a bit, Cowboys and Titans?

I know the Cowboys prefer their home games on Saturday, but their Round 9 clash is against the Dragons, you reckon they'd play that on a Friday.

At the end of the day, Ch 9 wants the best games to rate well.

Away game against NZ was shown on Friday back in 2010. Which was the last time we played there, we got smashed.

So its not impossible. Titans V Tigers is probably more likely though, that match up usually is on FTA.

Using figures from 6, 7 years ago to substantiate what argument?

Bottom line is they've got too much of a monopoly now and that's the key.

In most cases people don't care what day the Broncos play so much as the fact that the club is the only one at present with an advantage over others - in the fact they play EVERY SEVEN DAYS (except R7 -> 8 where it's 14). That allows routine, that allows methodic training schedule etc.

Surely that's an advantage instead of adjusting to short or long turnarounds each week...

Here's the thing.

Yes, Brisbane fans realise there's an advantage to getting Friday games. We've agreed with that from the start, but there's also disadvantages which we've outlined. We've also stated how we've gotten so many - because 9 have a NSW/Qld game to maximise the value of their TV agreement.

We've identified the issue, how about we talk about a solution instead of acting like Captain Hindsights?

Only one game on Friday nights, more Sunday games.

Done, dusted, good work gentlemen.

I've been through this at least 3 times...

Because the Cowboys prefer to play their home games on Saturday. That's practically 12 games sown up right there give or take a few Qld derbies. Their reputation doesn't help either, 4 finals appearances in 17 seasons is hardly the sign of a 'must-see' side.

The GC are the reigning wooden spooners and have only made the finals twice in five years. Again, hardly a must-see side.

Meanwhile, Brisbane have only missed the finals once in 20 years. They play out of the best home ground in Rugby League and attract massive crowds. Of course they're going to get favoured over the other two sides.

And hey, as others are saying we don't want this many Friday night games. We'd much prefer games on Sunday but we've got to fight tooth and nail for that to happen (see Lockyer's farewell).

Cowboys - prefer Saturday nights in Townsville. However play every second week out of town. Do they prefer those games on Saturday night as well? Why can't they be shown on a Friday?

Titans - may notbe a must-see team currently but finished in the top four two years running - how many FTA games did they get in those years? I'm willing to bet it was less than the Broncos. Teams like Parra and the Roosters are hardly must-see but seem to pull a fair share of FTA.

Yes the Broncos rate well, but to an extent its a self-fullfilling prophecy. How are other teams expected to grow their brands if they don't get FTA exposure? Limited brand exposure then means poorer ratings.

I'm so over the Broncos on FTA. I don't watch the Friday night game anymore as I'm sick of having them rammed down my throat.

I never said the second Friday game was distributed equally. Of course the Broncos are prioritised higher than the Cows and GC, they've got a much bigger fanbase and on the field they've generally been the more successful club.

The fact the other clubs haven't been as succesful as us or have other preferences certainly inflates the number of Friday night games the Broncos receive though. That's the point.

Of the 26 rds last year, only 3 of them did not have a QLD team playing on FNF: Rd 11, 25 and 26 (although Rd 11 was the State of Origin round, hence only 1 FN match). In 2007 (first year of the 2 FN match system), there were 7 rounds

No but you have given the Cowboys preference for Saturday nights at home as the reason they don't appear on FNF. There is no reason say a Tigpies v Cowboys game on Friday night at Leichardt can't be the first game into QLD - well except it doesn't have the Broncos in it.

Onfield success has been shown time and again to have little to do with it. How many FNF games have Parra had of late compared to Melbourne or Manly. As I mentioned before the Titans finsihed top 4 for two years running. I'd hazard to bet the Broncs got more FTA games than them in those years despite the Titans being the more successful onfield club at the time.

Ratings has everything to do with it but as I said its a self fulfilling proficy. A whole generation has missed out on seeing some teams on FTA. If your a kid these days, who are you likely to support - probably either the broncos, parra, Dragons or the Tigpies because they are the teams that get a run on the tele and subsequently they are the only teams they know.

That wasn't the sole reason I gave.

Onfield success has been shown time and again to have little to do with it.

It's definitely a factor though and it has helped Manly land more Friday night games. Melbourne haven't received as much luck due to their location more than anything else.

And you can hold onto your theory. Personally, I believe some clubs are always going to rate more than others and are better advertisements of our game by and large than others.
