Sure you did mateI chatted to John grant over a decade ago. He cited the Sharks and Sea Eagles. That was around 2011. It was an off hand comment over dinner.

The Bears had already relocated to the Central Coast just after the Super League War, looking back I wish the Bears had gone to Super League. If Super League had never happened, the ARL would have forced the relocation of a bunch of Sydney teams. Bears and Sharks would likely both had been relocated.
didnt the bears already make the decision of relocating to the central coast for themselves? If Super League had never happened, the ARL would have forced the relocation of a bunch of Sydney teams. Bears and Sharks would likely both had been relocated.
Maybe the bears would still be around today were it not for the central coast stadium delays. The Bears had already relocated to the Central Coast just after the Super League War, looking back I wish the Bears had gone to Super League.
Sharks have been given grants, early payments on TV rights deals, Super League payments, even cashed in on their own development of Shark Park.
Seriously it sounds like asking your Boss for an advance on your wage.
You only have to Google Sharks financial woes and pages upon pages come up.
And yet you still have to lie and say that the NRL have bailed them out.Sharks have been given grants, early payments on TV rights deals, Super League payments, even cashed in on their own development of Shark Park.

I wasn't going to lay the boot in, but you should stick to the facts. The Sharks were propped up by the NSWRL, and received handouts from the ARL and SL as well. And yet you still have to lie and say that the NRL have bailed them out.
It's never happened. Prove where the NRL have, you won't be able to find it because it has never happened.
Bears on the other hand were gifted $8m and f**ked it up royally and got booted because they were useless.
That's a fact.
Didn’t know about edelsteim and the sharksI wasn't going to lay the boot in, but you should stick to the facts. The Sharks were propped up by the NSWRL, and received handouts from the ARL and SL as well.
And let's not talk about Geoffrey Edelsten... actually, let's talk about that, the day club officials tried to sell the team to a media portrayed snake oil salesman.
- In 1983, after the Sharks had run into debt, the NSWRL stepped in and provided a loan.
- In 1993, Cronulla went into receivership, with the ARL bailing them out.
- In 1995, the lure of dollars saw them jump ship and join Super League.
- In 2004, former coach John Lang declared, "The Sharks have no influence and no money. They have spent half their history staving off bankruptcy... some seasons have been a success just to exist."
In 1986, medico-gad-about-town Geoffrey Edelsten and his blonde sidekick Leanne tried to buy the Sharks. The club rolled out the red carpet, only to be blocked by the NSWRL.
And they cheated the cap the year they won their first Premiership but it had not bearing on the victory, huh ?.
‘Smell of an oily rag’: The web of loans and repayments keeping the Cronulla Sharks afloat

Looks like the WA Government, through Venues West (incorrectly listed as “Perth Venues” in the article), desperately want an NRL club whatever their history and name.
Oi. You have continuously said "NRL" .I wasn't going to lay the boot in, but you should stick to the facts. The Sharks were propped up by the NSWRL, and received handouts from the ARL and SL as well.

The NRL about face over expansion in 2012 saw the redevelopment of Perth Oval (HBF Park) paused halfway throughLooks like the WA Government, through Venues West (incorrectly listed as “Perth Venues” in the article), desperately want an NRL club whatever their history and name.
Does it matter where you get your handouts hahaha now your just struggling like your club, year after year after year with handout after handout after handout after handout.Oi. You have continuously said "NRL" .
I freely admitted that Cronulla got help from the NSWRL back in the 80's, and some off the ARL.
But you kept on insisting the NRL gave them handouts. You were wrong, they have never received extra funding off the NRL. Newcastle, Gold Coast, Wests Tigers and St.George/Illawarra have all received a helping hand by the NRL, and Norths got their $8m waste of cash.
The NRL is a different corporation to the NSWRL and the ARL.
I can't help it if you don't know the difference, and you just kept digging your own hole in ignorance.
So maybe, just maybe you should be more aware of what you type, because you've had no "boot" to spruik because you've been naming the wrong entity.
M8 not heaping shit on Sharks fans just proving they are the biggest hypocrites on these boards saying that the Bears were failures when the Sharks have been getting handouts for over two decades. It’s funny watching bears fans trying to heap sht on Cronulla. As sht as sharks have been they aren’t anywhere near as sht as the bears lol.
Whilst not ideal, it's still a great outcome in comparison to the brain fart that was PNG.M8 not heaping shit on Sharks fans just proving they are the biggest hypocrites on these boards saying that the Bears were failures when the Sharks have been getting handouts for over two decades.
You’ll be in a Perth Bears jersey soon, can’t wait to see that.
If they had, Super League could've had Sydney teams to the North (Bears), West (Panthers), South (Sharks) & central-ish (Bulldogs) - and probably not have bothered setting up the Rams which I understand was to make up an even number of teams. The Bears had already relocated to the Central Coast just after the Super League War, looking back I wish the Bears had gone to Super League.
No extra funding since 97 SL. Thats a good 27 years ago.Sharks have been getting handouts for over two decades
