Tainted brandname + "Brisbane" is more likely to pull in higher sponsorship $$ as it will be seen as more of an equal to the Broncos and not a country brother like the Cows.

Same way you have two Chicago baseball teams instead of having one called Chicago and one called Illinois.

What about the people who live outside Brisbane who detest the Broncos? Wouldn't they prefer the team called South Queensland than Brisbane?

They are obviously taking the easy path on this one - alliteration and an Americanised name.

So much disappointment surrounding this if it turns out true. The bid team has an opportunity here to create a club that is vastly different from the Broncos, but by taking this image they are simply creating a carbon copy.

From a marketing perspective, surely alliteration must be considered an old-fashioned concept, a relic of the eighties.

Good luck to them but it will just come across as tacky.
