I will ask again, what the hell is a diehard??

I know the old logo was that of a titan/spartan looking lad, but surely they can't go down that path now with the titans down the road???

I would love to see a more traditional logo be adopted. As something similar to:

MCC_LOGO_A.jpg

dockers-logo-150x150.jpg

Navy Blue, Forrest Green with White trim would be my choice for colours.

Not quite as green:

Or this without the maroon in short sleeve:

A 2nd Brisbane team should of being there in the first place I hate the fact that the Broncos wanted to monopolized it all to themselves which is selfish on there part and not thinking of other factors such as the non-broncos fans in Brissie who wouldn't supported them despite being the only show in town.

Now for the 2nd Brisbane to be successful it needs to differentiate itself from the Broncos in every way possible geographically, colors, demographics, etc. 2nd Brisbane should be based in the south to create the obvious north/side divide between the two teams while sharing Suncorp as a common ground.

Expansion wise Perth is a shoe-in for me I'm torn between Central Coast & 2nd Brisbane hopefully more detail on the 2nd Brisbane bid comes to light because I seen the evidence for CC bid. Both are capable of being successful just where to go is the question.

The worst thing the NRL could do would be to choose Central Coast and Brisbane as the expansion clubs. Please, choose at least 1 club that actually expands the rugby league world!

That is my fear, a new IC may decide to be conservative and go for the two "safe" options. Then again if the TV deal dictates Perth will be in.

Perth is the only bid I would consider 'safe'. The fans want it, the NRL players and CEO's want it, the tv stations want it, the sponsors want it, etc.

The only thing the NRL has to decide on is who will partner them: One of the three Queensland bids, the Bears or PNG.

You could say the same thing about Brisbane (Crushers), Gold Coast (Chargers) and NSW's Central Coast (Eagles).

I agree - the bid makes great sense. The ratings in QLD will boost the total TV audience. CC won't really be able to do this. Perth also offers a new timezone. CC can come in with NZ2 after 2015. The attendance for the Brisbane2 team are guaranteed to be in excess of pretty much all Sydney teams (especially considering they'd play the Broncs, Titans, Cows etc infront of at least 40,000)....

One advantage a QLD bid has over all the others is that it can have games scheduled in co-ordination with 3 other QLD teams to maximise overall ratings.

As for jerseys, here's a few I mocked up for QLD teams (just for colour combos, it's an NFL designer):

Brown + Amber:

Orange, Navy + White:

"Obviously it's too early to be naming names and we're keeping our cards close to our chest, but we intend to go to the marketplace with the name being Brisbane something"

This has been the nicest thing the to read in all the media so far regarding this bid. They have my full support and when memberships become available I'll be proud to gain mine.

They've really made the Ipswich bid look very amateurish.

Just so all you cockroaches know, and especially those CC bid supporters who bore us to tears with their "we are ahead in all areas" mentality, the new Brisbane bid was a story on 2 of the FTA National News at 6pm up here tonight (and possibly the 3rd channel, but I'm not sure). Around 6.10pm on the channel I watched.

A team to challenge the Broncos in Brisbane, who was behind it, that they would play at Suncorp, and NRL would be on in Brisbane every week. Few other tidbits. Not in the sports segment, in the main news segment. So a pretty fair portion of the state now know of this venture.

This, coupled with newspaper coverage, and its safe to assume the word is out there and its very serious indeed.

Thankfully the odds on a CC bid being successful just blew like the proverbial gale.

Oink !

Is a second Brisbane team the best you can come up with to trump the Bears? I thought you northerners had Vision (or at least that's what you claimed back in '95). Think bigger. Expand your horizons. London, New York, or best of all, Beijing is where it's at. Think of the potential viewer numbers!

p.s. Pigskin - the home of Rugby League is actually the north of England. ;)

Impact of second Brisbane franchise on Broncos crucial to final expansion call says David Gallop

David Gallop ... The Broncos impact will be looked at. Source: News Limited

NRL boss David Gallop concedes the impact a second Brisbane team would have on the high-profile Broncos would be a major consideration in any expansion decision it made.

New Broncos chief executive Paul White said on Thursday it would be "business as usual" at the club despite revelations one of the club's most powerful supporters was part of a three-man bid team looking to win approval for a second Brisbane licence in 2013.
While Gallop did not discount the new player in the expansion game, he said such a decision would have to be "very carefully considered".
Brisbane Broncos, who have won six premierships, rate well on television, lead the NRL in crowd support, sponsorship and have also been ranked by market analysts Repucom as the No.1 sporting brand in the country.
"The impact on the Broncos would be something that would have to be carefully considered," Gallop said.
"They set the benchmark on and off the field in many areas and we would want to do it in a way that was a positive for the competition, including the Broncos."
Details of the bid were reported when it was revealed Craig Davidson, the chairman of the Thoroughbreds - a collection of wealthy and successful businessman who support the Broncos - had started due diligence proceedings into the formation of a team to go up against them.
It is believed members of the Thoroughbreds, who between them hold more than 25 per cent share interest in the Broncos, had a major falling out at the club's annual general meeting.
As a result, Davidson and Bill Rae, who owns the Queensland-based Pure Blue Meats, have put together a bid team.
There was speculation that multi-millionaire entrepreneur John Singleton could be approached to join the consortium.
Former Broncos foundation coach Wayne Bennett, who had close ties with the Thoroughbreds through the late mining magnate Ken Talbot, has reportedly already been earmarked as a possible coach of the side if it's approved by the NRL, which is planning expansion in 2013.
"We've said for some time now that we would expect to have a look at expansion around the middle of 2011," said Gallop, who expects to meet with the Brisbane consortium in the next week.
"But clearly no decision's been made.
"I've been contacted by Bill Rae who's one of this new group and I've indicated I'm happy to meet with them.
"(We've) clearly been talking to the Ipswich-based bid as well.
"We all know the strength of the game in Queensland and the population growth projections for the area so we would take the bid seriously but expansion is not on our immediate agenda and the impact on the existing clubs and the players in those clubs would be a big factor to consider when we do next look at expansion.
The NRL will consider bid proposals from central Queensland, Ipswich, the Central Coast and Perth.
White, a former representative player and ex-policeman who replaced former chief executive Bruno Cullen last month, said the report didn't change too much at the Broncos.
"We'll never be complacent because of everything that has been done to make this club as successful as it is today," he said.
"Everyone in this organisation is well aware of the need for us to continually improve on our benchmark performance.
"Regardless what is happening externally with bids, we will continue to strive for excellence in our own performance."
White said the latest developments did not place added pressure on coach Ivan Henjak or skipper Darren Lockyer to win another premiership.

After reading through all the articles and comments there is still plenty this bid has to do quickly and is without. I think a few posters have jumped the gun in relation to this bid due to nothing else but potential

Yet you are happy to jump on the Ipswich is a must bandwagon. This 2nd brisbane bid appears to be just as advanced as Ipswich's. hell, Ipswich had not even completed business & viability studies/plans, yet according to you they were a must. here we have a 2nd Brisbane side that automatically have the best rugby league ground in the country, the population of the 3rd largest Australian city. Yet you think they should not be given the same weighting as the "superior" Ipswich bid ?

Maybe you should heed some of your own advice.

Brisbane Brothers (Bretheren) for mine.
