same reason crushers chose south Queensland instead of brisbane.

but unlike dolphins they were based in brisbane, trained in brisbane, ran out of brisbane I think anyways.
I don’t get how that’s a rebuttal ?

Maybe the crushers wanted a different identity to the broncos

Are you saying the dolphins don’t represent any of Brisbane ? Their area stops at the city limits ?

Maybe you should tell the tens of thousands of people from Brisbane who support them they have to move

Part of the submission was on our brand and how we can attract a new audience to the game and grow the game. That was something we did as part of our pitch and when you think about it, Brisbane is bigger than the CBD now,” Reader said.

“Moreton Bay is the third-biggest council area in Australia and the fourth biggest is the Sunshine Coast - nearly 900,000 people live in that corridor before you get to Brisbane.

“So we had to be careful about how we name it because we don’t want to alienate anyone and we want to make sure we have the biggest reach.

The Dolphins have just one name.
The Dolphins have just one name.

“We want to make sure we’ve got broader appeal and whether that’s a more contemporary look and feel, it’s because we’re a national NRL club and the Redcliffe Dolphins will remain and play in the Q-Cup.”

And
Andrew abdo

“This is about owning Brisbane and not just having a second Brisbane team, but owning the north as well.”

no but they aren’t based in brisbane but they are clearly based in Redcliffe still. they got around the identity thing by being called just dolphins but deep down it’s still the same club that’s evolved into an nrl club.

dolphins north to sunny coast
broncos central to east
titans south to goldie
jets west to ippy

pretty clear what’s happening there, is for me anyways. they all get same support and you find fans of one team also have partial supports for the other teams. don’t think qld clubs are as tribal as nsw clubs

you are correct. ‘Deep down it’s still the same club’. Pretty much says so in this link

doesn’t change the fact the team is still based in redcliffe though. I’m not debating that a team based outside brissy can’t represent brissy but like jets they would be based in ippy and can still represent brisbane in the same manner.

yeah you want to talk about not knowing stuff

pippen not from brissy make stuff up
Wb jumping on any post that looks right
red bears once again dropping facts

I wasn't sure if crushers were based there. Just a vague memory. When I cite abs numbers & bid details you like to ignore them tho?!

Thanks vlados again I’m not debating that phins don’t rep brissy because they do but that doesn’t change fact they are based in Redcliffe and just like jets who would be based in ippy but can still rep brissy..

Just like phins rep beyond to sunny coast, ippy would rep beyond to tbar and western corridor like bears man said

You think this is a strong argument ?

I posted a quote from the dolphins boss himself who said that Brisbane is no longer just the cbd

And Andrew abdo said it’s a second Brisbane side plus all the way north to the Sunshine Coast
Yes because you and pippen can’t differentiate location (as in where based) vs representing

unless I’m wrong @Red&BlackBear whole spiel was jets would be located in ippy however he never once said they wouldn’t represent a south Queensland or brissy as well, he was just saying ippy would represent ippy tba and western corridor as far as where they’d draw from.

you two have completely missed the point and are arguing something different and yet neither of us 3 actually live there and understand the area properly that’s why I’m siding with bears dude

It's mental to over oversaturate SEQ to quickly.

The Dolphins are still playing a good portion of their games in a suburban shitbox for f**ks sake.

Bri3 should be a decade away at best.
Teams 18, 19 & 20 are likely to be added anywhere between 2027 & early 2030s.

if those three are PNG, Perth & NZ 2 then with a sensible lead-in time for expansion teams beyond that, we're looking at mid 2030s already.

That's unless the NRL really put the foot on the accelerator for teams 21 & 22 (IMO unlikely) or some big cataclysmic chain of events destroys an existing NRL club & a SEQ club is hastily required to replace it.

Terry reader lives there

I’ll go with his opinion

If you’re going to have a go at pippens post make it factual

My link was definitive

honestly don’t think you or pippens will win a debate about brissy, south Queensland or ippy here. But be cool to see another thought out debate like red bears had with vlados yesterday.
I find it harder to get excited about the expansion debate re Brisbane. First of all we’ve got a new club there that needs to bed down. It’s highly successful in its early stages but you can’t rush another club in just yet.
Secondly I think a new team in Ipswich right now would appear reactive to afl bullshit. I bothered to look up afl comps compared with league comps across SE qld earlier this year and we absolutely swamp them.
I’m not against another Brisbane team. I just think we need to wait a little while for the dolphins to settle in and Perth bears to be confirmed (assuming that happens).
If it was a decision for team 20 to be a new qld team like Ipswich or NZ2 I would not be bothered either way tbh

I think we agree more than we disagree. Dolphins desired catchment focuses on north. Jets would be south..but all part of Brisbane.
