NRL will benefit from the Perth Bears, argument on here has just been that Broncos and Dolphins are already covering the area, so the question then becomes why would you?
First of all, I'm not making that argument. Second of all, agree on the diminishing returns. But even a third Brisbane team will be in the top 5 attended teams in the league, top 5 for sponsorship, top 5 for TV ratings even if they never overtake the Broncos or Phins. So why? Ahhh to make the league stronger.

You are arguing with people who see rugby league with an east coast lens. The addition of Perth is the only true expansion by the NRL in Australia since the Storm. And some still can’t see the potential of that club and the difference it’s made to this competition. Perth are a big addition to the comp with massive potential to grow the wealth of the competition. But, you know, let’s plug another side in Brisbane. Expansion should be about the long term growth of the game. That’s obviously how Vlandys sees it. PNG is a risk but it’s got 10 years of funding to get it right. NZ2 is the next best option imho. As you’ve often said, SA has been sorely neglected by the NRL. That’s going to be a hard option but we’ll see. Oh yeah and QLD 5.
all QLD vs QLD matches are derbies and Queenslanders will tune into any QLD team playing, whether its Ipswich, Central QLD, Sunshine Coast. Anyway I get that people want another existing old BRL team to be promoted, it makes for a good story.
you are 100% correct cob. dolphins are an seqld team which is represented and supported by large fan base of all across seqld not just northside and their support comes all the way down to yamba as well. i know i live here and sees it with me own eyes. my cousin lives northern goldie near coomera and there's always people around that shopping center with phins merch on. way more than broncos or titans to be complete honestNo, you didn’t. For reference (because you don’t have a clue about what you’re talking about) SE QLD is a massive area, covers a lot of regions and “catchments”. Brisbane is a massive territorial city with 4 geographical sides to it.
I can guarantee you, when I talk to Terry and he talks shop regarding his goal for the Phins - he never isolates them to a location. He sees the club as a QLD club, no matter where you’re from they want your support, no matter where juniors play they will look to recruit.
But please continue with your presumed facts mate, and please keep harping on about stuff you have no clue about and better yet, please keep lecturing people who have direct involvement in the game here that you must know better. its like @Pippen94 the man with glass pipes cant comprehend that phins and jets brands extend beyond their historical bases. as said in above post, i sees people wearing phins merch here near yamba more than any other nrl club. pips is caught up with statements made in 2021/22 and can't actually understand whats the club is now and how it sees itself and more importantly how its own fan base and local sees it. but i guess pips with his binoculars from god know where the hell he is at, thinks he knows better and the fact he think he knows more than @Red&BlackBear who clearly knows what he is talking about, track record for all to read through out multiple posts is some funny stuff.
end of the day the nrl is taking it seriously, qrl is also pushing for it (arlc member), its been mentioned here that there's money for it and seems like its all lining up. should it be in front of nz2? probably not but why not both in say 15 years-20 years time? game will only get bigger. it can cater for it. brisbane is a rugby league mecca and i think if seqld wants another team, they should get one. in due time of course, definitely not right away.
About a year and a half ago Peter White, ceo of the Central Capras made a off cuff comment that if Capras had the resources they’d look at Adelaide/SA to establish some sort of connection with the SANRL.
NRL vic has taken over management of the game there I think and the comp has slightly grown. If he’s serious he’s got a big job ahead of him
