Broncos could lose McGuire

60k inside cape, the rest was excluded due to the long player service crap.

Sigh..

Even some players on a comfortable wicket such as captain Darren Lockyer are only entered in the cap at $250,000 with the bulk of Lockyer's salary provided by legitimate third-party arrangements.

Also from that article:
Cullen took the unusual step of releasing a statement yesterday to defend the club's signing of Inglis, saying they had $1.5 million to play with under the NRL's $4.2m salary cap next year following the loss of several players and proposed changes to the system.

The lesser clubs' discussion of what's happening at Brisbane is like the bitter, nosy Christian woman next door whose stupid face pops over the fence and tuts loudly when your missus hangs up her lingerie on the clothesline.

LOL couldn't have said it any better. We haven't even won a premiership in 5 years and the other teams are shit scared, it seems.

We sign GI and everyone and their dog calls up cap. cheats despite all the bull s**t us fans had to put up with.

He ends up in Souths and everyone just laughs at them.

Illustrates things perfectly.

I think some people on here need to apply for jobs with Ian Schuberts salary cap audit team. Clearly there are some people on here who

1) Have inside knowledge of salary cap accounting for clubs they have no association with
2) Are literate, can spell, and construct coherent sentences
3) Have the ability to police the salary cap with figures either made up in their head, or sourced from newspaper articles and then added to other figures made up in their head
4) Have been able to identify that the salary cap is actually a conspiracy, related to club ownership structures (a truly unique, groundbreaking and previously unheard of revelation)

The knowledge bank on LU is being wasted.

It is a valid point. Quite simply Sydney is more expensive to live in than Brisbane.

Broncos players have been accepting less for aeons to stay in Brisbane for this reason and for the QLD/Brisbane lifestyle.

Thoroughbreds

I take it you have forgotten when ex-Broncos CEO Don NISSEN gave evidence in the Gordon Nuttal trial that the group mentioned above made extra payments outside the salary cap to keep them in Brisbane.

Keep your head in the sand all you like, does not change the fact that this is the primary reason that your club is able to retain many players.

Pete, keeping in mind the season you guys have just had-would you have preferred to have kept GI? The answer might have been obvious a couple of years ago, but his form for most of the year with Souths has been pretty ordinary and he's barely looked fit.

That wasn't the point I was making.

I would have liked having GI but I'm glad the club washed their hands of him and showed faith in the stocks we have.

I'm aware of that, was just after your thoughts that's all.

Souffs clearly not working him hard enough

Maybe you missed it, and I'd just like to highlight the irony of the highlighted part when compared with the rest of that sentence... :sarcasm:

Yet, outside this thread barely anyone is actually talking about the Donkeys. Most of us couldn't care less, I doubt many at all are scared of a Lockyerless Donkey's team.
