Broncos Recruitment

Don't you guys feel bad that we got a player on these terms?

I feel sorry for the raiders I really do, I really love this club and cant wait for him to play for us but my heart feels sorry for them losing all 3 of their marquee players like this.

Firstly, we haven't "got" Milford, unless you know something your not telling us.

Secondly, sure it sucks for the Raiders if they lost him, but it is hard to "feel sorry" for them; the Broncos lose their junior talent all the time.

Exactly ... just to consider three players we have lost - K.Hunt, Folou and Berrick Barnes - to other codes.

All's fair in player recruitment these days, although, I would like to see more weight put on keeping the terms of contracts.

In Milford's case, if he has a "get-out clause" attached to the health of his father, than that's all good.

Could the raiders block Milford from playing all together next year? Say OK go be with ya father but we won't be releasing you to another club...silly as he would be taking up cap space but they surely would be sick of players pissing off on them.

Also just seen marmin barba has signed a 2 year contract. More for the welfare of Ben then anything I would say

yep. Even if Marmin doesn't cut the mustard and make the NRL it's a good signing. Will help settle Ben down for starters. The kid though is meant to be quicker than Ben. Was going along pretty well till he got cancer and then in his comeback last year had an injury. I think it'll be 2015 before we see the best of Marmin

@Natheel, there's precedent for it. St. George did it to Tallis when he wanted to come up to the Broncos so he sat a year on the sideline. It's more about drawing a line in the sand, saying we're not going to make it easy for you to get out of a contract with us so players in future won't be tempted to do the same.

Can Marmin play 5/8th?

they can do it, but then they start the year 1 player down. It's a big gamble considering their injury history and there were a few clubs this year who couldn't select players due to the cap etc

Yes Marmin can play in the 6. I think he isn't a 2014 prospect just yet though. He needs to add a little bulk to hi 72kg frame, especially to defend in the line. I think depending on his off season, how he bulks up he could very well give Granville a run for his money for the bench spot mid year at best. The kid is quicker than his brother apparently so imagine that speed coming off the bench with tired forwards on the field. "Barba to Barba shut the gate try time" could be very common in the near future

If the Raiders made any move like that I'd say Milford would go to the Queensland Reds. They were interested in him (maybe still are) and of course Super Rugby won't enforce NRL rules.

I thought the Queensland Reds came out and said they would be interested in Milford if all he wanted was a "gap year".

This is a very simple process that has been made to sound complete. Milford will enact his get-out clause and come to the Broncos, announcement pending November when the club can "officially" start talking with him.

My tip, the announcement will be made straight after the World Cup final.

Man we snag Milfy and suddenly there is a tonne of xfactor and depth in the club.

Still have concerns it will be another year of "rebuilding" however...

Looks like the Broncs are looking for some depth in the prop department and have invited two Capras player to training:

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport...ard-pack-in-2014/story-fniabm4i-1226786937754

I would imagine that we might only use these guys around origin time if at all. But I guess with some extra training, who knows? Anyone know anything about these guys?

I haven't heard anything about them before reading the article, but size in our forwards is what we need. They might get a nose in before Origin time too what with ASADA breathing down Kennedy's neck.

Arlin Paki moved to Queensland from WA (South Perth Lions) in 2013. Big athletic front rower who apparently has been training the house down over there.

Yeah there was a CM article released not that long ago about a few of the Capra try-out boys. Always good to have options, especially with Origin constantly taking their fair share of the Broncos pack year in, year out.

Think he's back with the Capras.

Was around for picture day though - so there's an image floating around of him in a Broncos jersey.
