Broncos Recruitment

Correct, Barba has brought alot of skill to the backline when the ball would just die with Hoffman instead of throwing the last pass. Now it dies with Hoffman at second receiver though.

Just because Barba isn't making linebreaks anymore doesn't mean he's not having an effect on our attack.

Thank God for Barba who at least has given us another kicking option. Improvement is slow, but he's getting there. Hopefully he can continue improving without having to drop him back to ISC.

When we signed barba, he was already damaged goods. he hasnt improved our attack and his decision making in defense is costing us vital wins.

Er, yes he has... His defence is shoddy? Sure Matt Scott steam-rolled him, but name a player in our team Scott didn't steam-roll last week? Barba is in the top 5 fullbacks in the comp for try saving tackles. He is going great guns in defence overall.

In attack he has the ability to pass and kick, things our 5/8 this year doesn't have and our halves from last year only had one skill each...

What we are missing from Barba is his support play, running off good service from halves and broken field play.

Support play is non-existent because he is being used as a playmaker because we are one short, he IS a half in attack most of the time so obviously he isn't getting good service from them and whilst his running game can improve he is being given very little to work with in light of a forward pack that isn't dominating other teams and poor service from others...

Milford is no better than barba in defense. Griffin is not the right coach for him to improve it.

I'd say he is probably worse than Barba in defence at this stage, but then he hasn't had four full seasons of NRL to adjust either.

Griffin isn't the right coach, enough said there...

I don't think it's so much Barba's tackling as it's his ability to defuse bombs. He has literally cost us a game on the back of that inability.

While playmaking is certainly affecting his natural game, I believe there are other reasons why he hasn't kicked on. On form, he hasn't been playing great football for some time now, even under one of the game's best coaches in Des Hasler and that ankle injury appears to be hampering him. He is also getting used to the players around him and vice versa. We saw in the Roosters game, Parker's attempt to manufacture a combination and it wasn't overly fruitful. Until they develop some timing and Barba knows when to support his runners.

Will thd Broncos make a play for Zane Tetevano? Would land him cheap and we could sign him for the remainder of the year and see how he goes.

No thanks.

The Knights front row formations is one of the worst in the competition and Tets did nothing for them.

He is no worse than our fat 400K plodder Martin Kennedy! Heck with the spare 300K we could buy a decent 5/8th or centre to replace Reed!

Ryan James? He has had a rocky start to the year, not his best, but certainly has the talent. With the Titans dropping him they might part with him, and why the hell aren't we throwing 500k at McKendry?

Because we've learned from Martin Kennedy...

hopefully...
What about McKendry, he has forced his way back into the Panthers starting side and they are still trying to offload him. Sure he won't come cheap but he's probably the best available. We have every other position covered, we still have plenty of money for next year, I really hope they are working really hard to land a top prop or two.

That's actually who I'm referring to.

I can understand the thought process but at $500K it'd be an absolute rip off.

He played well last weekend but just look at his opposition Kiwi. The Knights by their own admission have the weakest front row in the competition and they were without Mason & Sims.

If he was willing to accept unders, I wouldn't say no but I doubt it and as such I wouldn't want him at Red Hill.

I'd much rather chase an up and comer with a good skill-set like a Lloyd Perrett, Matt Lodge or a Jake Trbojevic than spend that much money on a bash and barge guy.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of other options on the market.

Regardless, would rather spend the money wisely than invest 500K in a player like McKendry or James.

If we're going to pay premium, I'd rather spend it on a player like Burgess.

well we need to do something pretty soon, every single one of our props other than McGuire are off contract, including most of our under 20 props

Well, from the sounds of it, we're in the middle of negotiating with a few of our young players.

Hopefully it goes smoothly.

I have one rule with props....unless they are test or Origin quality, I am not throwing 400K plus at them, they are good but they are not worth that amount full stop.

That mentality is antiquated. The modern game puts a lot more importance into the quality of packs, so it's natural that the best props will demand more respectable money.

The one and only Roosters prop that i would not have touched with a 10 foot pole and the Broncos bought him.
I mean come-on. Moa, Hargreaves, Napa and even Caine Evans would have been the prop to buy, not Kennedy.
Typical the Broncos went after Kennedy. Andrew Gee loves these rolly polly forwards who look very similar to himself when he was playing.
You know your in trouble when you use a second rower (Faiday ) as a prop.
Sack the lot from the top, Whitey, Gee and Gruiff the farmer.
Hire a lady netball CEO, find a scouting recruitment officer, a real one not a ex front rower player who has no idea, and buy a real coach like Kevvie walters, and start rebuilding this club which is now heading into it's forth year of downward spiral since the retirement of Lockyer and the loss of Bennett.

Moimoi on the market for next year. Should the club make a play?

http://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl...for-season-2015/story-fn2mcuj6-1226917943543#

No, absolutely not.
Another rolly polly forward who can only last 10 minutes then needs a break.
The game is speeding up and moving away from rolly polly forwards, the Broncos need to wake up to this fact and stop recruiting these types of players. We have one, Sammy Faiday, thats enough for one club.

Stay away from K.Hunt as well, he is a trouble maker and our club needs loyal playetrs, not Falou or Hunt type codehoppers who dont give a stuff about loyalty or clubs progress, all they think about is bank accounts.
Leave them to rot in other codes.
