Broncos Recruitment

the way Wayne Bennett speaks about the Broncos it's obvious he cares about the long term prosperity of the club long after he is gone, he will be a Bronco till the day he dies, it's a shame the Broncos went in a direction that made him want to leave the first time, but very satisfying that we are moving or have moved in such a direction that he wanted to return.

I think it's more the fact they have finally learned to just do what he says, when he says it.

He knows they have fallen apart since he left. I think the other major part of this is obviously Lockyer's retirement.

There is no way now they will argue, dispute, ignore anything he says. Which is what he wants.

One wonders if this signing was only pursued after Hannant signalled his intentions.

If the write-ups are correct, he's exactly what we need in the pack - a bit of mongrel and intimidation - something missing since Ben Teo's departure. We've really got a pack of nice guys and good blokes, which is all well and good for the off-the-field work, but we do need an enforcer.

He's had some bad luck with injuries apparently, so may have some unrealised potential.

According to the Sunday Mail, Kennedy is certain to leave with Broncos paying out some of his contract too. We are gonna be severely short on props next season, I expect Thaiday and Parker will have to spend the majority of time there, sigh!

Looking at our squad for this year, we still have:
- McGuire
- Hala
- Wallace
- Dodds
As well as the youngsters, Joe Ofahengaue and Francis Molo.

This is on top of signing Garbutt and the Wests front rower.

We have the numbers if we don't want to play Thaiday/Parker in the front row, but they look pretty green.

Yes, the rebuilding begins.

On McGuire, watching him play for Samoa last night, he really isn't a traditional front rower. Of all those mentioned above, not only are they "green", but there is very little "hard yardage" ability in that lot. Daniel Vidot would make more hard yards than any of those front rowers.

It could be a tough year.

Considering McGuire played lock for Samoa and not front row.

According to Rugby League Week Ipswich Jets Prop Forward Rodney Griffin will do a pre season with the Brisbane Broncos after an outstanding year in the Intrust Super Cup 2014.

Griffin, 27 is another in a steady stream of Jets who have prospered under the coaching of former NRL stars Ben and Shane Walker at Ipswich. Tautalasi Tasi ( Bulldogs), Nathaniel Neale ( Rabbitohs), Matt Parcel (Broncos) and Lorenzo Ma'afu ( Eels) are ex- jets to have recently secure NRL deals.

And out of all of them, only McGuire can play long, quality minutes. Maybe Dodds too, if he hadn't spent a whole year injured.

I have always been impressed with this guy whenever I have seen the Jets play. Whether or not that translates into NRL is anyone's guess.

Strongest indication yet about Boyd -> Broncos

DARIUS Boyd is a Bronco again, which means Wayne Bennett has just one more piece of his Brisbane roster puzzle to solve.

The troubled Newcastle star was officially released by the Knights on Friday night.

He will be announced as a Bronco during a special presentation at Red Hill on Wednesday.

Boyd, who suffers from a form of depression, will be Brisbane’s fullback.

His official release from the Knights is what triggered the Broncos releasing Josh Hoffman to the Gold Coast on Thursday.

Could another of Wayne's shadows be following?

However, Bennett ruled out a play for Neville Costigan who quit Super League club Hull KR to remain in Australia for personal reasons.

Speculation was rife that Costigan had quit Super League to reunite with Bennett at Brisbane.

“We have no interest in Neville and outside of that, nothing is happening,” Bennett told The Courier-Mail on Friday.
