My understanding is the capacity is 18,000 - 13,000 GA plus 5,000 seats

Here's the solution, Manly. Get yourself a decent ground. It's a major final against another team from the metropolitan. Would do you think is going to happen? Play it at an unsatisfactory venue where just 15k can attend so only those at the insular peninsula can only attend?

Do they even make anything out of the shithole that is Brookvale Oval?

They have probably wasted this era of success off the field. Once they go down hill on field, it's going to get very nasty for the club - politically and financially.

Same rubbish every year manly fans complaining they cant get a home final in the worst ground in the NRL, the facilities are shocking and no way should a final be played at that ground.

Im sick of people judging suburban grounds , if the fans and the club like a shit hole and turn up in preference to attending the so called great stadiums then who cares.

You can not hold finals at a pigsty.
Other codes are already pushing us out of Sydney's major stadiums.

The best senerio for the NRL is for Manly to not make the top 8. We have had 10 years now of Manly selling dud wingers to other clubs while keeping all their superstars.

Time for the NRL to start spending some talent, time and money on the Titans, Raiders and Warriors, clubs that struggle to find decent players.

They never helped Brisbane replace Lockyer, they will probably allow the cows to hit the wall when Thurston retires, and the same will probably happen to the Storm.
In the meantime Manly have two internationals in their halves, the Roosters are not happy with just two, they also want Hastings as well, probably so other clubs cant buy him.
This code is a joke.

why should the NRL help the Broncos replace Lockyer? god you're an idiot

Didnt they have 20k vs the dogs only a few years back? And in the same season 2 19k crowds (parra and souths?)

I am sure (if someone checked), there would be recent 20k+ crowds.

Which era? They have played GFs in every decade since the 70s havent they??
Things dont look like trending permanently downward anytime soon...

They just got a grant to add more seats, so that is a good thing. Wet weather kills their crowds because it is so exposed.

Umm because it is supposed to be a Manly home game, because they finished ahead of Souffs.

If the team and manly's fans are happy to play at Brookvale, I don't see why it shouldn't

And the Souffs fans can get stuffed, their team is the away side, they will get a home game in week 2 or 3 anyway

Souths home ground isn't the SFS. Therefore it's played in a neutral venue. If manly fans can't be arsed to travel there they can get f**ked.

*50s (Runners up in 1951, 1957, 1959, 1968). Manly have won GFs in every decade since the 70s. But you're right, Manly has maintained success for the better part of about 60 years with the longest stretch between GF appearances being a whopping 9 years (1998-2006 inclusive) due to the Northern Eagles factor.

This is BEYOND stupid - How is replacing players the NRLs responsibility?

Finals are neutral matches. Whether it's played at Brookvale or Dubbo, it's the NRL's match, not the higher-placed club's. The NRL pays the costs of staging the game and gets the gate takings. They can schedule it wherever they want.

Home ground to the higher team is awarded by the NRL if the respective club's venue is satisfactory for that game. Brookvale Oval isn't, so the NRL have moved 'THEIR' game to a neutral venue for both match day clubs, and more importantly, a satisfactory facility for the match.

Not hard to understand.

The solution is in Manly's control. Not cheap but it's up to them. If Manly ever want to host a Week 1 NRL final against a Sydney metropolitan team again, then they need to sort out the standard of their shithole home on the northern beaches. That goes for Penrith and Cronulla too.

All Sydney finals are played at ANZ or SFS so by your logic every other ground in Sydney is a shithole. Fact is it's simply a result of a whine by Slothfield a few years ago and most Sydney clubs are paying the penalty as a result of the spineless NRL caving to the pressure of one drunk journo.

The NRL got 30k last year to a double header at the SFS when they could have got 20k+ to each game separately at home venues. 13-15k for Manly v Cowpats finals in 2011 and 2013 when they would have got 20k at Brookie. Someone explain how anyone is actually benefiting from the stupid decisions by the NRL?

This thread is about a match featuring another metropolitan team. My post is about a game featuring another metropolitan team. The bit you've quoted has me mentioning matches featuring another metropolitan team.

Learn to comprehend.

TBH instead of changing the stadium policy to benefit a piece of shit tiny little club so they don't look pathetic in the SFS

They should just kick manly out of the comp ffs. Then the finals would be between other sides who are undoubtedly more likely to travel and have more fans.
