It is the use of the supposed "fixer" with ties to the Penny's club that is the story, not the young bloke getting a young girl pregnant.
As has been stated over and over again, the "fixer" (which appears to be a term coined by the Telegraph) has no connections with the Panthers club apart from having beeen a player many years ago.

Had to laugh at the bits of Gus' press conference I seen. He talked about how Penrith weren't doing nothing and wanted to conduct their own investigation before saying anything and mentioned "getting all the facts" and knowing exactly what had gone on. After getting all the facts they're comfortable it was all above board.

Then when journos start asking questions he details all the facts and information that he doesn't know anything about, specifically the $50K, the contract and who drew it up.

Let's look at the supposed facts.

1) Bryce got her pregnant. (Nobody doubts this)

2) She got offered 50,000 to have an abortion at a certain stage last year which she did. (Also appears this is not in doubt).

Not for the hazy part.

Why is she suddenly coming out about it now?

I sincerely feel for the woman and am almost on her side, but why didn't she come out when she was originally offered the 50k?

So many questions.

Us Panthers fans were desperate for something or someone to blame the loss to the Dragons on.
Clearly the impending story rattled Bryce, his offloads were metaphors for pulling out and not wanting to be left holding this baby shaped ball.

He also shared the news with Moyza Moylan, who also was rattled by the news. Thus his pea hearted performance, he was simply thinking of his mate bryce and when bryce missed a tackle...Moyza too missed a tackle.
His way of saying 'Dont worry brother bryce...im just as bad as you! And i havent even paid for an abortion (yet)'.

True story.

Doubt Lou Z, could be only titled an ex-player. Life member, sponsor via his companies plus is a known fundraiser for the Pennies.

C'mon.

Sorry, should have been Lou Z. Knew it was one of the two. LOL

Has Lou been calling himself the fixer or have you swallowed up a DT term to sensationalise another story.

Family friend or mentor of Bryce don't conjure up enough fear and intimidation.

not the young bloke getting a young girl pregnant.
Shouldn't that be the young couple got pregnant?

Does the term really matter - fixer, mediator, intermediary. Same thing

Having fathered a few children, I can honestly say I've never said I got pregnant but I'll give you the term "we are having a baby". LOL

Are you saying his companies haven't sponsored the Pennies?
He hasn't be a fundraiser for the Pennies or he was not an ex-player & life member.

Call it for what it is mate, the DT are trying to convey this idea that a man with ties to the club comes in and fixes problems like this. As if penrith have systematic issues and require a full time fixer.

Seriously, it's a beat up. The bloke wanted to bail on the situation and wanted a third party to help resolve the issue.

Who gives a f**king rollick.

why the hell would you need to use the fixer ?
Perhaps for a similar reason that separated couples use lawyers to negotiate property and custody/access agreements on their behalf. Family lawyers are more often called vultures or leeches than fixers though.

Terminated romantic relationships tend to be bring about high emotions, the sort of thing that can be avoided using a third party.

Cartwright should really have had a lawyer represent him on this matter. At least he'd have got an agreement that included a provision that she couldn't go running to the media at a later date. Particularly after she made such a bee-line to the DT when she first became pregnant.

So how do we all know she was actually pregnant and not just a gold digger?

On the Pill, took morning after pill, then hits him up for 200k.

Wouldn't be the first woman to yell the 'Hey you cant leave me i'm pregnant'

Yep, and that's a fair call.
I say, the man should have a say in if he wants to be in the child's life or not without financial commitment.

I know it'll be opposite of alot of people's opinion, but f**k it. Honesty!

This is going on a different tangent but you have a point TBH. There is merit in the idea of a man being able to 'opt out' of being a father when the woman wants to keep the baby and he doesn't because we all know the reverse can and does happen. It would have to include written contracts waiving all parental rights and responsibilities, signed within the timeframe a woman can get a legal abortion. Personally, it's not something I think a man should do in the vast majority of cases but the responsibility of pregnancy is 50/50 and choice should be available to both parties.

Anyways, in regards to this case, this is just not going to end well for the Panthers or Bryce. We all know the NRL punishes players based on negative publicity and not the actual offence committed. The media has a hold of this now so I can't see anything other than a NRL enforced suspension for "bringing the game in to disrepute".

Lolwut. Men opt out all the time. Luckily they can't opt out of financial responsibilities.

The conundrum is that it is morally objectionable to force a party to have an optional surgical procedure, when they dont want one.

Don't go in raw boys.
