We have Paul Gallen for that. Don't need Buderus for leadership. Kudos though for being the first to bring up immeasurable qualities as a means of justifying Buderus's inevitable selection. Its that sort of bullshit that sees Gidley continue to get selected each and every year. Don't forget to tell us about all the work he does "off the ball" and "in the sheds" as well....
Cam Smith has all the leadership and inspirational qualities you mention but Melbourne fans don't seem to have to belt everyone over the head trying to convince people that he is worthy of SOO and Australian selection. Somehow neutral fans from both states are able to see how good Smith is on their own, while no one except knights fans actually rate Buderus anymore.
is there some sort of leadership quota that we already have filled in the NSW team? can you have too much of a good thing? we have other blokes that can create try assists and line break assists, too. Farah is surely excess to requirement there. even though you mention "in the sheds" and "off the ball" work with complete irony, these are qualities that teammates and coaches hold in very high regard. i'm sorry i don't have stats to prove that to you.
Gidley actively f**ks things up. Buderus does not. big difference, different positions. apples and oranges.
"no-one except Knights fans" is a very liberal use of the word "no-one". i think what you meant to say is many non-novocastrian NSW fans don't want him to play, whereas all of them would admit Cam Smith is the best in the world. many fans in that category still do think he's the best option, though. many of those fans also have candidates from their own team, funnily enough. many of them were telling us 6 years ago that Farah would do a better job - and he didn't. you'll have to excuse me for not putting much weight in their, and by inference your own, opinion on the issue.
