Bulldogs fullback Ben Barba stood down indefinitely

He is relieved because to him it feels like a very big monkey is off his back. He no longer has to deal with the pressure of performing each week to a very high standard and being criticised for every bad thing he does on the field.

Poor diddums, maybe going on a bender will fix it.

Haha yeah I've heard many stories about MG at Penny Leagues when he was younger. Apparently he'd be going the knuckle every week there.

Surprisingly, MG omits those stories in his radio ad for Clubs NSW...

LOL @ Tumbidragon when he gets a a warning from the mods.

You are not allowed to modify a persons post.

Someone tell that tosser El Diablo to stop modifying my posts. Does being a "post whore" entitle one to be a moderator? Especially when it's not mentioned in their forum ID.

Yep. In 1970 and 1971.

I haven't got the book on hand sorry, but he says something along the lines of he used to encourage Billy Smith and a few others to go out and get loose, because that is what they loved doing.

Happy lifestyle off the field = good footballers on the field.

Some of those old Sainters drunk so hard then turned up to training the next day and were awesome. The amount they drank, then backing up for training I couldn't do, not even at 21 years of age.
Cause your a softc*ck

Nah I knew you were all good mate. You're right that people tend to exaggerate with their drinking. But Smithy had a bit of a reputation back then. Don't know how he drank that much and was still able to play so well.

Funily enough, caught up with my old man last week and had a mate with me, Dad was full of stories about the old days, particularly Smith and Raper.

Dad used to work behind the bar at the Royal. The stories of the night he refused to serve them are most amusing.

People get far too worked up these days over nothing. (Not saying young Barba doesnt have his issues he needs to work on for his own sake)

Can we blame Wayne Bennett's lack of chin on Doust too? Doust has at least three, what a hog.

You know what pisses me off the most about Doust.

It's not that he can't get the big name signings recently.

It's his f**king haircut.

He's fair dinkum got a mullet.

Atrocious stuff, makes me cringe.

The example below doesn't show it too well.

But. What. A. f**king. Gronk. Haircut.

Amen brother.

Yep, I love sitting down and having a beer with those older than me and listening to their stories. It's great stuff, I love it.

I've even got stories from the late 90s and 00s, probably 40-50 of them that would be a "massive blight on the game" these days. It's a joke.

p.s. To the guy who said something about MG's radio ads, so true!

Haha nah seriously Carch, that photo doesn't do it justice.

It's a f**ked haircut. It's not even a typical "Westie" mullet. It's a proper hair cut, but long at the back.

f**ken bizarre in my opinion.

Anyways, I win the award for dumbest opinion on why you dislike your CEO

Irvine came up and said hello to the Dragon army last year Carch.

It was to tell us have a good night and to speak to the extra security he put on if Sharks fans give us trouble.

It may have been to make sure we behaved ourselves.

Anyways, at least he had the balls to come and speak to us (unlike Doust).
