how many would they have to release to get Duggan given that he will be on top shelf money

Well from memory we have said all along we have plenty in 2013.

We have lost alot this year and only spent on Graham.

Example Idris was offered 400k? We didn't sign anyone to replace him Lafai was already there. We upgraded a few kids though.

Lost Ryan, Roberts, Tandy who were all over 200k on the books.

Lost Armit, Hodgson, Paea, Millington, Tia Kifili, Sezer, Morrin, Warburton, Hickey.

Gained Graham, Gavet, McDougall.

We have off contract in 2012 : Keating, Turner, Wright, Lett, McDougal, Stagg, Halatau from memory.

Stagg & Halatau will be on a pretty penny. The rest wouldn't be on huge amounts though i'd say with that along with the amount we are under + the cap rise the Roosters, Eels, Knights etc seem to be banking on we would have a fair bit of room to move.

Yea spot on the Roosters have always been the main danger to him re-signing.

Yeh i mean they obviously spent some cash on Maloney, though they still had lost Carney,Myles,Ryles added nothing. They would have a big chunk to still spend even with upgrading a few kids. Especially with Anasta and Mino off contract.

If SBW isn't a rooster. Expect Dugan to take up a big pay day.

They will have to clear much more cap space to get Foran than Dugan. Not exactly sure what the plan is but Foran will want $BW money since the cap is going up and a precedent is being set etc. Dugan is a fine player but probably hasn't earnt that yet, although I wouldn't be surprised if someone gives it to him.

Would Foran really want to move anyway? Hell get good money from Manly, live near the beach, in the box seat to win another premiership. They'll have to give him a hundred grand a year just to drive over to Belmore, no idea how much he'll want if he is going to live over there.

The only reasons to be in Canberra are pot, porn, and fireworks. Since Dugan (probably) gets drug tested and fireworks are for kids, well there isn't much to keep him there.

Garbage Dugan and Foran wouldn't be much money difference at all.

Again i've just broken down the basic dogs situation and that is more then sufficent to land Foran. Manly won't be able to match anywhere near that kind of money, the pressure they have on at cap is as high as it gets.

The box seat for another title is yet to be seen, and hey Des was prepared to go, the Dogs have the best facilities in the NRL now along with one of the best coaches (the one forans own parents have said they want him to play under for the rest of his career) along with the best ceo and one of the most stable and reliable clubs when it comes to money along with the Broncos.

Not saying it will happen but i disagree that foran will command anymore then say 600k a year. I also doubt Dugan will.

The sooner we accept loyalty is all but dead in professional sport, the easier it will be to accept athletes home grown or not will move on where two things are present: 1. Better money 2. The team in question in their eyes offers a better chance to be successful. Option one will win out more often than not, if option two is present as well - win/win for the player. I would love to see the likes Josh Dugan to be a one team player, just unlikely now in the professional era of sports.

And it would not be a story at all if pimple boy wasnt hawking himself around to any club with a tub of clearasil!

Besides, I'd reckon Ben Barba has a lot of 5/8 in him, and given the Dogs halves are so pedestrian you reckon Hasler is not looking at a solution? There is a reason Manly didnt get into a bidding war over Hodgkinson.

I watched a lot of Barba in NSW Cup when he was playing half back. No way would he make a good 5/8th. He likes to do too much himself, and is unable to lead a team around. It's why fullback is his best position.

These stories don't bother me in the slightest. I still think Dugan will stay.

If he doesn't though, it won't be the fault of Raiders management. They will make him an offer to make him the highest paid player at the club, but I'd imagine there'd be a couple of other teams doing the same. Wherever Dugan decides to sign, it won't be for the money, because you'd imagine he'd be on more or less the same anywhere.

Let's hope you're right. It would be great for all including the game.

there are 16 clubs in this competition who would love a player of Josh Dugan's talents
he'll be linked here there and everywhere between now and signing his next deal, as he was last time... in the end i think if the raiders are looking good to contend, he's getting noticed in the rep scene (which he is) and we pony up the dollars (and we'll have plenty of it to pony up) he'll stick with the raiders

im also not really concerned about the dogs, as like many others have said i too think dessie is going to focus on bring in a guy like Foran rather than a Dugan

Has the alleged "unrest" between Dugan and Furner brothers died down in ACT?

I havent seen it referenced for a long time, tbh i think it was a load of crap, dugan at 20 years age seems to me the type of bloke who'd dislike any authority figure, as most young adults do.

The fact he then went and re-signed with us really put a dent in the "Dugan cant stand furner" thing

Agreed on both fronts.

I see the 'loyalty is dead' call as a myth. Look how many players have played 300+ or 200+ games for the one club now compared to previously.Yes, more games are played perhaps but the very best players stick with their clubs often for less cash.

There are also a lot of players in the modern era who have played for long periods with 2 clubs, with their name becoming synonymous with one of those clubs - eg, Fittler with the Roosters, Kevin Walters with the Broncos.

The change in the game is that players who are fringe first graders are more likely to try their hand at another club to prolong their careers than linger in reserve grade/NSW cup at their original club. Fair enough call too.

There will always be the player who is seduced by cash and this has always been the way in the game.

As for Dugan, his on field performance this year will determine where he is in 2013. For all his excitement and promise he has yet to deliver consitently enough in the top grade. I'd love for him to stay at Canberra but not for big $$$$ if he is injured more often than not.

Yeh, i honestly think the roosters are the ones who will land Dugan.

Always been keen on him, mino is going. this is if sbw doesn't come to them.

Otherwise i think he would stay with raiders, they have a pretty good squad together especially compared to the dragons roster now that boyd, gaz have left and most likely a few more will.

If SBW doesnt go, they might get keen
but the rumours around town last time he signed for the raiders was that he had a hand shake deal with Uncle Nick and when he turned his back on it to stay at the raiders Uncle Nick was f**king ropable and wont get involved with him again... grain of salt, chinese whispers stuff i know but if true they might not be in the running at all
