That's well and good.....so how they gonna pay for 2 more guys to make it 3 players for 3 players?

People keep saying more will go to.....these all need to be replaced as well. And we all know they won't promote their own juniors to the squad.

You mean like Jake Foster, Sam Kasiano, Tim Lafai, Ben Barba, Jamal Idris...and that is just the ones who have played top grade this year

Guys, Andrew Ryan is off contract at seasons end and will be 33. Huge possibility he'll go to the ESL (most likely St. Helens) on a player swap agreement... if he wants to go. You may remember that last year Kevin Moore gave both Luke Patten and Andrew Ryan the opportunity to sign with English clubs if they wanted out of respect for their long service and loyalty to the club. Patten decided to take it, however Ryan wanted to stay on. I really doubt he'll be playing for the Bulldogs next year, however he will still be playing Rugby League.

And how many Canterbury Bankstown bred juniors (not including under 20 kids bought from Qld or wherever) are in your team this week? One benchie in Corey Payne? Is that right?

Big f**ken deal

BTW Jamal Idris is a Chester Hill Junior. He was a Bankstown Boy before he went to Forster. As is Blake Ferguson, Anthony Wattmough...

So now we've gone from promoting within to true local juniors. If you were to go through with a fine tooth comb for all clubs I am sure you will a lot have been brought in from elsewhere.

They wouldn't necessarily have to find 3 for 3.

Their squad may be 30 or 35 contracted players instead of 25. That's how some clubs do it.

Cap applies to a minimum 25 players I believe. Every other player that plays come out of the 2nd tier cap.

They have gun SG Ball & Toyota Cup teams with some talent in positions they'll likely lose.

But if they turn around and sign William Hopoate as well...then I'll be a bit suspicious. But for now, for me anyway, it all stacks up...and I've been one of the most vocal in the past against them.

Wow, 5 juniors who have played in the NRL for your team this year. 3 of them on debut this year...

Gun NSW Cup, NYC & SG Balls. We have players worth upgrading and I don;t think we'll be considering young Hoppa

And that is the point....worth upgrading yes, but seems not if some tried and tested players come on the market. Would have loved to seen Sezer and Finucane get a shot this year, instead of signing Hodkinson or Keating and Millington. Gun players throughout strong junior teams, but will you hold on to them?

Funny how short-minded people are.

In 2012...

No Idris, No Ryan, No Tandy
  • Certainly more will finish up after 2011, the likes of Roberts and co come to mind
We signed, we're happy, all you haters and unproven salary-cap whinges, BURN
BTW, has anyone even stopped to think how AWESOME this is for the NRL? We now have 3 big name forwards in English football playing in our comp.

I was just taking the pi$$
The Dogs will have room with Tandy having his contract removed - if Andrew Ryan retires too.

Idris is only on minimal money, hence why he's gone to the Gold Coast, but the other two would be about right to pay for Graham. That's if the Tetley Bitter isn't included in the cap.

The Bulldogs could even get some 3rd party sponsorship

Here is something to consider

It's a pity he didn't sign with Souths. We could have gotten BunniesMan to see if this would be a suitable sponsor

With a salary cap of 4.3M that averages out to $172K for each top 25 player. I'd say we only have 10 of our top squad earning more than that.
Barba
Eastwood
Ennis
Hodkinson (Not by much)
Idris
Morris
Pritchard
Roberts (Might even earn less)
Stagg (not by much)
Tolman

None of those guys would be on massive money. I'd say our highest paid player would probably be Pritchard at around $350K. We're not in the position of some other clubs having to pay massive amounts for 1 or 2 players (eg Thurston, Inglis, Smith, Slater, Hayne) so we have more room to move.

I don't get the salary cap cheating calls based on their squad. It is hardly head and shoulders above other teams squads. I know they have past form but I am sure the ones who think they are cheating are just plain stupid. They signed some players so they must be cheating, deeerrr.

A player swap agreement?? I think you are getting confused with FIFA transfers.

Why would an uncontracted player want to enter into such a convoluted thing? And why would any club for that matter?

Seeing as Canterbury have appeared to already signed Graham, they don't seem to be obligated to "swap" anyone.
