Bulldogs the Real Deal?

Absolutely right re the halves. But they are key players even if they aren't dominate. Hodkinson's kicking game (and even Reynold's) shits all over what anyone else has. Plus Hodkinson leads and controls the team perfectly whilst Reynolds is a constant threat and can turn even the smallest mistake by the opposition into a line break or a try.

Manly match we simply switched off after about 25 minutes and let DCE run wild for a bit and from there we were playing catchup football which is never easy to do in the wet. Prior to that we were controlling the match really well. But that happens sometimes and Manly deserved the win no doubt as they were the better side.

On Sunday we had so many chances but because we had halves that were completely incompetetent at both kicking and setting up attacking plays we were never going to score many points. Both teams at full strength and we would beat Parra more often than not IMO.

It doesn't really matter as teams won't be firing until round 20 odd. Halves or no halves. If you guys have that forward pack I can't see the side making a dent come finals time. Like Souths forwards win Bulldogs games

We're a top four team, no doubt about it, and have a shot at the premiership. If we can jag one or two wins before the end of Origin, we'll come home with a wet sail. We should have everyone bar Pritchard back in the next 4-5 weeks max.

Turn it up. There is plenty of doubt.

The Bulldogs are a better version of the Titans. Ladder position does not tell their story. They are a 5th-8th team. Not top 4. Not premiership material. I was right about the Titans when I said similar while they were peaking, I'll be right about them.

Wow thanks BM. We are shoe ins for the comp now

If you lose this week against the Raiders your hopes of top 4 are over and your place in the 8 is under extreme threat from the Warriors, Tigers & Cowboys.

Yet if the Bulldogs win against the Raiders and other results go their way, they can be first again come the end of round 16. I don't think any team will be safely in the 8 until about round 24 this year. Results have been even more unpredictable than usual

The Dog's have struggled in attack for most of the year.

The earlier wins have been achieved mainly through defense, team spirit and a few individuals coming up with the right play at key times.

At full strength and with most players putting in 100% they were grinding out narrow wins.
The defense and the attitude was top 4 level, the attack rarely was.

The optimistic view is that the attack will click at some stage and they will be a genuine top 4 contender. However, that is yet to happen and it may not happen even thought I suspect Des has something up his sleeve.

In recent weeks there have been different factors each week, but without the origin halves the attack at times has looked even worse, it is not surprising as the team is playing without recognised play makers and they were not going that great even with the first choice halves.

The attitude and effort in defense is still mainly there, but injuries have further weakened the team in attack and defense.

It is not that unusual most clubs have to battle at some stage of the season.

I think the Dogs can turn it around, but can they get back to being a genuine top 4 team?

They need to find something over the next few weeks when the team is not at full strength, it does not have to be pretty but they need to get the points.

Once they get back to full strength they need to improve their execution in attack and narrow the gap on the other top teams.

The defense and attitude will come back quickly, but they need to score some points just to maintain confidence.

Posting on a forum to tell everyone you don't care what they think.

It always gets me...

Whats next? Going to a Vineyard and telling everyone you don't like wine?

Funnily enough I worked at a winery for 3mths. Wine isn't my thing, so it's apt that I was doing pruning.

My comments about not caring is because too many are putting too much credence into what's happened. In the last 3 games when really it's been out of our hands. Hard to win at times when you don't have your best team on the park.

Not really, because our halves will be buggered 2 days after origin (should they play), the rest of our team will be coming off a short 5 day turn around, and the Raiders will be fresh off a bye.

And how many Raiders are playing origin?

If you can't beat the Raiders....give up and I mean that. They are dead set the worst side this year by quite a way too!

How is that different from posting that you do care what they think? Either way, youre stating your position.
FWIW i dont think the dogs are much chop, even at full strength. They'll get found out when the whips are cracking.

Come the end of season finals, the Dogs will be there.Every year, the teams that have had representation in SOO and were on track for the finals generally make it through as they tend to do so.

Maybe, however their forwards needs to lift. Pritchard being out hurts massively as he is one of the few that have ball skills and can bend the line.

Should be fine post Origin and with Perrett and Klemmer back. It's hard to be competitive when such important positions are removed. I don't think they've got enough to go the distance but they'll be there in week one and perhaps week three.

Certainly trust them making the Grand Final than most top 8 teams.

I get what you are say but it has been their forwards that have been belted, that is what has caused this. Apart from James Graham and Josh Jackson none of them have done anything in the past month. They could have had Morris, Reynolds and Hodkinson...and if your forwards are that bad, you won't win too many games!
