Bunnies keen to attract gay support

I think this is something that is good. Over the last few years the NRL and the clubs have been concerntrating on attracting more women to the games. I think that has been a huge success as there is more women at the games than ever before. Although there are gay people who do attend the games this is something that the NRL or clubs have ever really promoted.

Its the only option they had left really, after all, looking at their crowd figures, its pretty evident that the heterosexual community isn't interested in supporting the bunnies.

Considering the club is based in the heart of the gay and lesbian community it makes sense to reach out to that large demographic.
nah , redfern is hardly gay.I think the Rooters have it covered. Just more coverage for the owners.

An interesting development this one...though I can't help but feel its more about South's publicityu machine rather than a concerted effort to change paradigms.

A couple of points:

1. Are they sure that the Gay market = Rugby League $$? Its one thing to think a player is cute, its another thing to develop/maintain interest in the actual game

2. Would traditional Souths supporters (I'm thinking the 45-75 yo Male, pub-drinking, hardline, homo-phobic demographic) be disinfranchised by this move. They might be disgusted that their team is now the 'Queer Eye Carson' of the NRL. Then again this demographic is ususally a closet queer anyway...

I think it's just for more publicity...smart move though.
Gay people aren't any different from other footy fans so I don't understand why this has come about.
I don't see how anybody's personal life has anything to do with football.

Gays, straights, whites, blacks, purple people, new zealanders, mansurians, catholics, preists and monks of the church of the latter day brewers, rooster supporters and the Panthers Club 3rd level pokie machine attendants-

Our message to you all is simple and clear:-

Bend over and kiss rabbit!

Its not as if the drum squad will be marching to the sound of a different beat.

Thy wrist tis strained Rusty! Oh Hollywoodus maximus!

BRING BACK THE CHEERLEADERS!

If gay people are no different to any other people (according to Holmes A Cort) why is a special invitation needed to get them to come to league matches? If they were interested they would be there already. If I were a gay souths fan id be more insulted to be singled out as one and told i was "welcomed" by souths. Its not as if souths are just removing the "no gays allowed" sign from the front gate.

next week we'll hear of Holms A Cort reaching out to left handed people to join the club because they will be accepted there.

The more people that follow Souths, and thus League in general, is a good thing.

That the Swans have a large following in the gay community, and that many reside in the Souths and Easts areas......you can work it out. The AFL have had a free kick for a long time, it is time to erode what support they have, piece by piece. The NRL should be leading this fight, but recent comments by Gallop show that they have given up.

I have no issues with Mr Humphries sitting next to me and gently inquiring as to when intermission is.

And if he decides, when we score, to kiss his airline friend, well I can look the other way at the replay on the large screen.

If I should have reason to explain that a scrum is not a means of getting to know each other, but moreso an outdated means of a challenge for the ball, that should not afford me too much bother either.

Yes, I am prepared to turn the other cheek at almost all appropriate moments!

So long as some of the "drum machine" are female and dressed like cheerleaders!

Our game is becoming very sophisticated and complicated these days. So be it.
