Burgess eye gouge

Souffs would have lost the same and some things are more important. That shit needs to be dealt with

Yeah, I agree. Just pointing out how ridiculous it is that a gouge doesn't result in anything more than a report, but anything resembling a punch would.

To be honest, if the Tigers had've reacted, it would have forced a review and there'd be a good chance that Burgess would be sent

It was dumb, but no sight was impeded or anyone hurt.

A vanilla flavoured facial that went off the rails.

But greenberger will use it as another zero tolerance Ben barba moment. Violence will not be tolerated in rugby league. Nrl caring for the local facial environment bullshit

A mad pommy forward doing his thing. After his suspension, that punk Dutton will have him shipped back to the uk.

The other one who should face a significant ban is Adam Gee. Not only was he right there, not only would he have feedback from the Bunker, not only does he also say there’s fingers in the eye when talking to the thug, but some god unknown how he did not order him off immediately.

You are absolutely unfit to be a referee if when a players safety is in such grave threat from such an obvious and deliberate act of thuggery, that you still can’t pull the trigger and order that player off. It’s not as if he had doubt he’d done it. He outright knew that a severe eye gouge had occurred and still chose to take no action.

The NRL must also review its MRC fine debacle. They’ve opened Pandora’s box with some of the stuff they’ve allowed Josh Maguire to get away with. And it’s come back around fairly quickly to bite them hard.

Tripping is another one. It was an automatic send off in the past. Now it’s a penalty and next Thursday’s lunch money. Wtf has happened to the game?

You’re right, it was a thumb straight through the eye into his brain. No fingers involved

The ref needs to be questioned as to why the sin bin or send off wasn’t used. It’s a cop out it’s sent to be reviewed and charged at a later date. Tigers get no benefit from this grub act yet the rest of the clubs that play Souths this year will (should be minimum 12 weeks for repeat offenders)

It was more than open for the big guy to jink around the eyeball, pop one out, tear or nail into one and/or rip a few tendons out.

But you can see, he’s just feeling about -looking to squeeze his face a bit and by way of touch -dominate the incredibly gifted Robbie Farah and add some fear into his mindset.

No intent, 2 weeks should suffice.

That’s a good point.

Steve Linnane got 15 weeks in the 80s for something nowhere near that blatant. The Down’s syndrome northern f**kwit should get the same.

Wow it was 20 weeks ... my memory must be dimming with age.

Freeman got a whack as well in 89

Freeman got a whack as well in 89

And Les Boyd got 15 months back in 1984.

No one was injured? What if Farah gets an infection over the next week and loses his sight?
Do we then retrospectively suspend burgess.
Stupidest argument I’ve heard on here and I’ve seen the top ball threads.

If a player gets hit high but plays the next week, was he really injured? No suspension.

Eye gouging and spitting. Two low acts that should be f**ked off.

Any contact with the eyes in that manner. 10 weeks straight up. Next offence 20 weeks.
