Interesting...I was actually having a look at some of our old crowd stats yesterday and a number of the best ever crowds were Manly games during the past 10-15 years.

Notwithstanding this, the recession is hurting big time and a lot of the clubs are doing it tough. The Titans who average approx. 22,000 last year had an opening season crowd of about 16,000 and has yet to reach 20,000 this year and they are leading the comp!

Exactly!

And you know the common denominator between the Gold Coast Titans and the Newcastle Knights and their lower then expected crowds?!

TICKET PRICES THAT ARE TOO EXPENSIVE. The Titans and the Knights are in the top 4 most expensive in the NRL.

...which didn't stop them having the 2nd highest crowds in the comp last year.

Anyway, I don't want to start another rant from you know who because they don't rely on their crowds like we do, but I bet they don't care very much that their prices are too high. It costs me around $28-30 for pretty much the cheapest tickets in the house, and thats including concession! But when you are filling your stadium pretty well most weeks as the Titans are, I don't think they are going to care. Maybe if they keep getting sub 20k crowds it might raise an eyebrow perhaps.

The funny thing about the Titans crowds is that their two LOWEST ever crowds have been both against us, I bet I don't get a trip to the Gold Coast next year as a result :p

2008 wasn't the same economic climate that we are in now, and the Gold Coast is a playground of the rich regardless.

Unfortunately the same can't be said about Hunter Street and its surrounds.

They were however concerned about their falling crowd figures. Voss said as much the other night on the Footy Show.

Good to see they pulled over 17K last night though.
