To me the online play is more like World at War and the lag has stopped me from playing it.

My kill/death ratio is rapidly falling below 1.00 and it has nothing to do with how good or bad I am. Watching replays of my deaths is so frustrating becaue then you realise how bad the lag is. You are literally a sitting duck for those players with no lag.

Had the same problem with COD 4, im finding MW2 a better online experience than the first one.

Wont matter once Battlefield Bad company 2 comes out, much better online game franchise imo

havent played the previous games except for a handful of times at a mates house.

the campaign in MW2...was waaaay to short. without collecting all the intel it took me about 6 hours. 6 hours ffs! the story was ok. Graphics etc are all awesome, but thats to be expected these days.

Online is pretty fun...but like many others are saying ...the lag just f**king ruins it. i suck online....so i think that hampers my view of it...i dont think the game is that great really. Uncharted 2 for the story sh*ts over it. Online...meh UC2 had alot of things that pissed me off...but mw2 is much better in that respect.

I had gastro all weekend and spent most of early Sunday morning sitting up since I'd been lying in bed all day. I played online for about 3 hours and not once did I have a game with "green bar connection".

So f**king laggy.

I joined a game with a bunch of mates in "party mode" and finally had some decent online gaming.

The only time I get green bar games is when I play with a group of friends who are also Australian.

Yeah, they are using dynamic servers and they'll switch to the "most optimal". Meaning if you are playing with an American then he'll be switched to the host.

I'm getting tired of having red dot connectivity and unloading a clip into a players head only for him to turn around and shoot me once. Last night I would have quit at least 80% of all games I joined.

I'm not sure. There's a fair few disgruntled Aussie and NZ gamers out there.

Last night I played a few games with a decent ping and man, does it make a difference. I actually started getting my kill rate up.

Last night i finally had some heaps low ping games too.

I originally thought i was getting slaughtered due to my low skill level, but high ping appears to have been playing a huge part.

They need to implement some sort of region system in match making so we can have aussie only games

Yeah I thought that too, that I was getting slaughtered because of my skill. But I'm not a complete n00b and I know the difference between getting shot good and proper and lining a dude up and shooting him in the head from point blank range and nothing happening only for him to turn around and nail me with a pistol.

A region system is a must. I don't really want to play with Americans anyway. Too much whining.

Playing them in GTA though. Oh my...LULZ all round.

they had the regional thing in COD WAW, I hate that game, but that was one thing that stood it above COD4, the online play for this new one is $hitting me to tears.

I ownt be buying the game until they fix the online.

I will rent it to play the camapign.... I could probably get through it in an afternoon by all reports.

The online problems are only for PC gamers tbh.. The Way MW2 is setup is to benefit console gamers..



They need to get dedicated servers or there wont be a MW3 on pc anyway... They had the chance to make the best multiplayer FPS game ever but they stuffed it up.. Now waiting for Badcompany 2 or battlefield 3

Activision financial executive Thomas Tippl has said that there are plans to begin charging Call of Duty users for online services.
“It's definitely an aspiration that we see potential in, particularly as we look at different business models to monetise the online gameplay,” Tippl was overheard saying by IGN. “There's good knowledge exchange happening between the Blizzard folks and our online guys.
“We have great experience also on Call of Duty with the success we had on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. A lot of that knowledge is getting actually built into the Battle.Net platform and the design of that,” he said.
“I think it's been mutually beneficial, and you should expect us to test and ultimately launch additional online monetisation models of some of some of our biggest franchises like Call of Duty.”
As to why users will be happy to stump up, Tippl explained, “Our gamers are telling us there's lots of services and innovation they would like to see that they're not getting yet. From what we see so far, additional content, as well as all the services Blizzard is offering, is that there is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that."

Are you sure about the first part? I've got a PS3 and I'm having problems playing MW3 on my console. I think most Aussies who have consoles are having the same problem.

With PC there are no designated servers. On PS3 and Xbox they have an issue with dynamic servers where the host is switched to the best server. This is an issue when you have 10 Aussies playing and an American joins. The host will be switched to the yank and the Aussies will have ordinary ping.

I thought it was just a PS3 thing but two guys I work with are having the same issues with their Xbox. They need to either have a region lock or let players choose what server they want to join.

In saying that, I had some decent gameplay last night. 3 green bars was about as good as I got but I still won a few games. I'd love 5 green bars though. Geez...

Has anyone seen the clip of the guy getting the final kill with a throwing knife? Just as the counter gets to 2 seconds left he hurls a knife over a building and nails a player in the neck a good 100m away. Impressive stuff

I used to be a fiend for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory online. I only ever played on 2 different servers and it was awesome. You would have 32 players and you would know all of them...

No your right about all platforms having the problem, The best thing would be to have regional searching for all platforms and also Dedicated servers for the pc version... IW seem to think that they will be able to turn this game a WOW type game with players paying to play online..


battlefield Bad company 2 and battlefield 3 are two different games..

BTW I have the pc version havent had a problem yet with lag ive noticed though they have changed the search down to <50 ping from <100

I played for about 2 hours last night and never got a game with more than 2 yellow bars.

Most games were red dot connection. I must have been playing in n00b central though because I still did well.

That "Rust" map is fun. Pure carnage. I have a class especially for that:

Vector SMG
Akimbo (fire two SMG's from the hip)
Marathon - unlimited sprint
Lightweight - move faster
Commando - longer melee reach
Throwing knife.

I just sprint around the map going bezerk like a meth crazed junkie in Crazy Clarks on dole day.
