Water should be about 1 litre a day, or an equivalent of 8 cups i think.

Conflicting reports about that.
Some say drinking that much is great, others say it is a waste of time.

In terms of water, especially at the start of a new diet, it is very important to flush out the toxins that lay dormant in your body from the previous crap you have eaten. Water acts not only as a hydrant, but also as something that keeps you full - the human body is about 90% water I believe.
Shadow I believe breakfast and snacktime is where you are letting yourself down. Make sure you eat a piece of fruit or two during these times, and FFS stay away from the chips. Grog is also bad.
Each time you feel hungry, take a deep breath and drink a glass of water. In terms of dairy, all major health groups recommend low fat. It is much better for you and your man boobs.
Also I would advise you to enrol in some group sporting activity - very good for the body and soul.

Oh and yes soups are fine for lunch, but make sure you also add some solids. If you are eating at work take in some vegetables or fruit which will also act to fill you up. Make sure you also bring in snacks for morning and afternoon tea type times, around 10.30 and 2, after breakfast and after lunch, which will continue to keep your blood sugar levels up.

Healthy food is a lot more effort, yes, but it is worth it. Sushi is a good thing to eat every now and again too, just not schnitzel sushi, as are turkey and salad sandwiches.

thanks for that mr sharks. Plus im stay far away from the grog, smokes and drugs...already over-weight dont want to kill myself any faster then what i am.

So for snacks eat fruit instead and at breakfast have some cereal like weet bix or just right?

Also another question about excercise...

LEts say for breakfast i have 4 weet bix with milk, snack i have an apple, at lunch i have chicken soup (or whatever).....how long do you suggest i work out for for the weight loss to take effect? I know it takes time but ....should i be going for an hour run? boxing drills for an hour? what?

cheers

Hr a day is fine.
Medium intensity.
Mix it up...one day go for a run. Run for 2 mins...walk for 1....run for 5..walk for 2. Mix it up. Maybe if you run on an oval thrrow in some pushups every so often when you run. You wont be able to run for 1hr straight first up, but soon you will. Run with some motivating music in your ears.
Another day hit the bags...have a stereo and play eye of the tiger whilst you do so.. It works!

HIIT training is good for fat loss as it stimulates the metabolism for hours after working out. It is along the lines of what SAAB is saying.
High Intensity Interval Training. Jog for a minute, sprint for a minute, jog for a minute, sprint for a minute....you get the drift.

hey Saab...i dont mean to go around in circles here asking the same questions but just a little more help if you dont mind.

For breakfast is it ok to have say 3-4 weet bix? Or should it only be 2? Also is 'just right' a good cereal?

Also i dont like fish or any seafoods...so for lunch what else is there other then chicken? if you could give me 2-3 food ideas that are easy to buy from supermarkets that would be great. I just need something for lunch...but not sure what is ok or not.

Also ive been told and read on here that i should cut back on Bread...why is that so? Also should i eat wholegrain bread instead of the other stuff?

and one las tthing the past few days ive been consuming alot of fibre....is that ok? i know fibre isnt "un-healthy" for you...but just wondering.

cheers

While you are waiting for Saab SG I'll give you my two cents.
In terms of your breakfast it doesn't matter how much you are eating as long as you are burning it off. Ideally you would have a little bit of each of the following, to provide a balanced start; cereal, milk, toast, fruit, juice and water. IMO I'd go for two weet bix with some fruit on top, then a piece of toast and a glass of juice and two glasses of water.
Lunch, make sure you consume some sort of vegetables and fruit. Any low fat meat with salad sandwich should be fine. If you are having pasta, go for a tomato-based sauce rather than a creamy one, the creamier ones are loaded with fat and cals.
Oh and fibre is good for your digestive system, and eating wholegrain bread is a better type of bread usually as it contains more goodness and less refined salts and sugars. As the name suggests it is more wholesome.

Fibre is fine. You can Never have enough fibre..well you can, but you know what i mean. Keeps you regular.
Just right is better than Coco pops, but Wheet bix/Vitra brits is better than both of them. Mr sharks was right with what he said.

Continue to eat bread, but not as much of it...as i said previously it is hard to go cold turkey on something you like. Just cut back on it.
Soups are fine.

I'm sure the fat content of the soups varies too SG, just make sure you read the nutrition value label on the can. Reading the ingredients and % values helps a lot.

SG...don't starve yourself,

Thats a big point.

When you are starving...you can easily give in to cravings and you are more likely to eat more than you are supposed to.

Not sure what you do for work, but have some snacks around...healthy ones.

I had a knee recon and put on about 10kgs as I work in an office. Now I am struggling to work it off (mainly because I am a lazy sh*t) but I haven't gained any weight because I eat breakie, lunch and dinner and snack through the day.

I like to have a bag of fruit and some nuts handy. They make great snacks and will get your through to lunchtime.

The other big thing is stop drinking sweet fizzy drinks. Switch to diet coke or coke zero.

And then there is beer. No fat in beer...but it is chock full of carbs...and if you aren't doing the exercise...you won't burn it off.

I've cut back on my beer intake, don't eat friend greasy food, don't drink sugary fizzy drinks and am doing exercise and am slowly getting there.

Losing weight is something you can do quickly...but you'll put it back on when you go back to your original lifestyle. Change your lifestyle and diet and watch those kilos fly off.

Good luck

thanks guys very much. Over the past 2 days ive only had like 2 glasses of coke....im usually doing upwards of 5 or more a day....ive been drinking that water down like you wouldnt believe, its been coming out just as fast too...lol

ive got a list of foods from this thread and elsewhere and i think i should be right with the diet part now. last night i did a bit of boxing excercises and im going to start running/walking/jogging every day.

Don't forget to eat heaps of greens SG - for every portion of meat (keep it lean remember) you should be consuming about 3 or 4 portions of vegs. A good size for a portion of meat is the size of your fist, only not as deep.
If you are working out too powershakes are meant to be very good for recovery as well (as one of your small six meals per day), contain berries, low fat milk, peanut butter and natural oats etc, but I think this is best discussed another time.
