You are implying that the RWC will lose money... it wont it will make its usual hundreds of millions... its only due to the size of the Stadia that the host nation will lose money... the NZRFU accepted this so the NZ public can see a world cup.... every game will sell out and they will still lose money....

No.......please read again......i said the NZRFU!

The IRB will make a killing just like last year :D

Okay it seems the Poor Super Irish Warrior is getting a hiding on this forum

How about I give you an article Warrior. Hopefully you will not make a fool of yourself and put together a good case why RL can't take over RU in NZ

Are you ready Warrior? Here is the article;-) Lets see how you go this time

http://www.planetrugby.com./Story/0,18259,3551_3524339,00.html

""For the 2006-2008 period the IRB invested £30 million in the Game to fund its expansion and increase its competitiveness and now it will embark on a further £48m ($95m) investment programme over the next four years.

Please don't screw this up Irish Warrior like the ARU has screwed up Australian Rugby

I am as staunch a leaguie as you will find in NZ, and sadly, it will never take over RU.

League may have upgraded in the past 10 years from the "State House Rugby" label, but it will never gain an equal footing, RU is too far ingrained in the culture and is given the heavier push for that to happen

This sums up where League is at in NZ for me. My work is running a comp with the customers picking and Super 14 and League score each week, closest getting an AB jersey.
Have been laughing as i take them off the fax, scores that i have seen are Raiders 20 Warriors 5 ,Australia 33 NZ 13, Australia 10 NZ 7 etc. It shows how far back RL is when people can't even grasp the scoring system

I think we all agree that the NZRL would have to pull a rabbit out of there hat and the NZRFU would have to do something pretty bad for it to ever happen. To be honest I am just happy that NZ have an NRL team and if the get a 2nd one in the next 20 years progress would of been made.

The New Zealand International Team also need to step up to the plate and start performing on field! We shall see how far they have come on Friday :D

Call me stupid if you like, but i sorta like RL being the small cousin over here. I enjoy it when you find a Leaguie and have a chat about the game, all the blow in experts could ruin that. I know it ain't the best for the game, and it would be cool if it grew more, but i like the passion in it now from the diehards

Beaver, Rugby League has some of the most passionate fans around. That's why it has been around for 105 year and will be around for many more. One thing NZ is missing is an extra team. If they had another team you would be able to have a local derby and all the publicity that goes along with that. A second team say in Wellington will also give league a little more exposure outside Auckland.

New Zealand can have four NRL teams and it still wont happen . Just like if you put two NRL teams in Melbourne and it won't overtake AFL .
Just like a local derby between Brisbane Lions and the new Gold Coast AFL team won't overtake league in Queensland .

I've been away for a few days, but Te Kaha earlier on this thread you labelled as 'total bollox' my asserftion that Islander players are renowned for tackling and ball carry. Well, just to be clear, that's exactly what I'm asserting.

Do you disagree with that because it's a generalisation?
