Well realistically the bears cannot return, purely coz the media will have a field day with the whole "too many sydney teams" rhetoric, so unless one of them actually wants to relocate away from sydney the bears ain't coming back, ive been saying lately the roosters are already affiliated with them as a feeder club, that they should properly rename themselves as North Sydney Roosters, not as a merger as such, but merely to take over the catchment, as the bears would never give it up willingly, so adding the name might work, and really what they are doing now suits them both anyways, why not just make it set in stone? which also makes south sydney a great juxtaposition too as they are already hated rivals. That’s why I was saying what has happened to the Central Coast is a secondary concern to the North Shore. The real tragedy of the merge and the idiocy that followed it is what happened to RL on the North Shore. The governing body needs to step in and actually do some governing in the region, the 20 years of taking a laissez-faire approach has done nothing but damage. With an actual strategy for the region, it could have been RL capitalising on RU’s demise.
Trouble is roosters have a very small catchment for juniors, and norths are huge, so this would solve a lot of issues, but for norths members being totally 2nd fiddle completely will just be more mergertype baggage. IDK
