sky have actually moved a football game to show leigh v salford...which is a first in my memory..

My god the world has gone mad
i cannot see it on the fox sports schedule but hope that changes by the weekend as would love to watch.

Should draw a decent crowd spud? Maybe 7-8k?

From the Leigh website: Advanced ticket sales for the tie were 5,200 at 5pm on Thursday and spectators wishing to buy tickets on the day of the game are urged to get to the ground early.

5,200 tickets 48hrs before kick-off is pretty damn good, assuming there are a lot of people too that would not have bothered getting their ticket in advance. Hopefully Salford realise the importance of the match and take a big following too.

I still wish they'd done a double-header with the Leigh Miners Rangers though. Sure, it would have only added a few hundred to the attendance, but it could have been one of the biggest days ever for the town of Leigh AND a brilliant experience for the amateur players to play in front of a big home crowd! I think it's a big opportunity gone begging, unfortunately. Anyway.

Uk bookies have given leigh a 6pts start....thats ridiculous against a team thats 4th in super league...

To put that into context sheffield have 20pts start against hull fc..

Leigh knocked off Salford 22-18. Absolutely amazing game of rugby league and proof that Leigh will be very, very tough to deny a spot in Super League next season if they maintain this form line.

I hope they do. A club that is well run and competitive is definitely more desirable than the likes of wakefield in their current shape.

Looking at e post split schedule they play 2,3,4 from the championship and 11 from SL at home, then 9,10 and 12 from super league away. With that schedule i fancy they will get 4 wins and i am backing bradford to get 4 wins, depending on other results that will either result in either side guaranteed promotion or they playoff in the 4th v 5th qualifier. Very good chance that both will go up, most likely at the expense of wakefield and widnes imo

I missed yesterday's match, sounded like a good one. Today's matches:

Hunslet vs Dewsbury
Bradford vs Hull KR
Sheffield vs Hull FC
Batley vs Swinton
North Wales Crusaders vs Featherstone
Leigh Miners Rangers vs York City Knights

Any potential upsets today? Both the Hulls have drawn strong Championship teams, so they should be fairly close ones (hopefully). Would love to see Leigh MR continue their miracle run!

Good game yesterday and Leigh just about deserved it despite the absolute gift from Ben Jones Bishop. Dobson was a massive loss for Salford early on; I think they would have won with him on the field despite an excellent performance from Fages. Beswick was superb for Leigh.

Leigh do look good and play an entertaining form of RL shifting the ball quickly and attacking the fringes. I don't think they would have troubled a full strength Salford side who were missing half a team. However, they will be competitive in the 8s and Wakefield should be worried especially. It'll still be a big task for Leigh but will be interesting.

People also forget (when the say 4th-place SL side when describing Salford) that there's a massive traffic jam in the mid-table of SL right now, only 4 points separate 4th from 11th.

Widnes v Batley
Leeds v Giants
Hull FC v Castleford
Wigan v Hull KR
Catalan v Featherstone
Saints v York
Wakefield v Leigh
Dewsbury v Wire

Based on that, you'd have to say Leigh are the only non-SL team with a hope of surviving another round...

Catalans weren't great by any stretch of the imagination but they were on the end of some poor refereeing tonight.
