Network Ten

Network Ten is proud to be the official broadcaster of Sydney's 2006 New Year's Eve event, a "seriously" world-class experience. With our expertise in live event television, TEN will deliver a fresh and exciting national broadcast of the celebrations throughout the night.

I didn't have to put up with Gretel or any of the 15 minute of famers, and my view of the fireworks was perfect.

Videotaped a fireworks display.

Watching live, year after year...by 12.02am it all gets a bit ho-hum.

Fireworks.....seen one, seen em all.

I had the misfortune of sitting through a few minutes of their tripe. It was beyond awful. I thought it was some Big Brother special.

The sooner Gretel is removed from the media, the better off mankind will be.

I enjoyed every barbaric moment of watching them live from a street at Sydney.

I didnt see the coverage myself, so I voted for its excellence!

I didn't watch the fireworks on tv this year, but had I stayed home to watch and discovered that Gretel was presenting I would have done 'all of the above' to myself.

I'm a bit turned off by the fireworks, considering its tax dollars that could have been spent on hospitals and roads and education, yet they just blow it all up into the sky.

big f**king deal, its a new year, for the next 364 days no one gives a f**k that its a new year.

I like our fireworks display, besides a lot of the money comes from corporate sponsors.

Anyway, while there is no direct line of implication, as with any marketing campaign, it is supposed to generate a lot of money from tourism and retail expenditure, which is then put back into tax dollars which are spent on other things (see here).

I recall people last year said Channel 9 were too boring, and now 10 were terrible. Give it to 7 see how they go, but I cant really say much on Channel 10 since I only saw a few minutes of the fireworks. Most of the 18-26 are out partying anyway, dont really pay much attention to the fireworks on TV so it should be appealing to a younger audience, and the older group who just want to stay at home.
