With a lot of early arvo matches, it should translate to 11-12pm aus time.
Lets hope there will be replays too

Good stuff, I just hope that 7 doesn't do a job on the tournament like it done a job on Soccer or 9 done a job on Union with Roooooy Harrrrrrrrrrdly by sending over ex afl players to cover it. (please god, do not allow this to happen)

For the love of god no...

Channel 7 news had this deal in its headlines tonight.
Coverage has begun

I repeat what I said: hopefully this is the beginning of Ch7 broadcasting more league programming and slowly breaking Ch9's monopoly on FTA. This is also very positive for the 2017 RLWC rights as well which most likely will be held in either Australia or New Zealand. Funnily enough, 2017 is the last year of the current NRL tv rights so maybe Ch9 will be desperate to fork out more money in order to get some rugby league programming given that there relinquished the first-and-last bid clause in the next NRL rights from 2018 onwards

highly unlikely that will happen given the press release CLEARLY stated that all games will be televised and furthermore, live.

And I highly doubt Ch7 will send over ex-AFL players to cover it. Surely, there's enough league personalities in the media Ch7 can choose from. If they choose to have a pre-game show from the studio in Sydney (e.g. SBS with the FIFA World Cup), it will be interesting to see who Ch7 hire.

However, if they go a step further and pay for a commentary team to be sent over to the UK to call matches, I really do hope they take the first opportunity to get Vossy as the main caller if he doesn't have commitments with Sky NZ.

Excellent news!

All games live - great for the rusted on league fans who will get up at 5am to watch the games, but hopefully there are replays or reruns of highlights packages as well for the more casual league fan that doesn't know or care about the international scene. This will lay the ground work for the next WC in Aus and NZ (or South Africa lol).

Also shows some people at 7 have an interest in broadcasting rugby league still, which is positive.

Luckily for the Aussie fans, our pool matches are on at more convenient times:

12:30am AEDST vs England
7am AEDST vs Ireland
7am AEDST vs Fiji

Pushing the night kickoffs for the last two group games further back to 8pm kickoff (instead of the standard 6pm that is used in Super League) will definitely make it much easier to wake up at 7am (finishing at approx 8:45am).

Also, if we finish top of our pool - which will pretty much be decided by the result from our opening game - we get our Quarter-Final match at midnight AEDST:D

I know it's still 4 months away, but man....I'm really looking forward to this World Cup (much moreso than the last one). Have a good feeling this one will be a resounding success.

I'm old enough to remember when 7 had the Internationals, 10 had clubs and I think 9 had SOO, it was a good time for RL, they were the days when the roo and lions tours really started to kick off. 7 done a way better job of internationals than 9 ever has or will. 9 only care for SOO, the NRL next time should just sell them that.

Is he for real? They've had the french open, cricket, winter olympics, summer olympics previously, in the same or arguably worse time slots.
What is his problem?

I'm almost disappointed I won't be able to watch Seven's broadcast. Hopefully there is this kind of coverage for the next world cup.

While I hate European timezones, I just recently got around to getting a DVR, and itll get quite a nice work out. For anyone who is thinking of doing the same, you can get a set top box with DVR function and just hook up a USB. 2 hour broadcasts in HD are like 8-9gb, so you'd need a decent sized USB harddrive (which dont cost much anyway), but the set top box DVR only costs $30.

Mind you Kangaroos games will be easy to watch live.

f**k! Half the reason I got Fox this year was because I figured most WC games would be live on fox! Now I gotta buy a set top box!? I don't have an areal on the roof either so It's rabbit ears again.. lame!
