The Storm broadcast issues was discussed on the Offsiders this morning.
"If the team is not going to be promoted then why have a Melbourne team at all."

it could have been shown on a multichannel on Friday but 9 refused to do even that
Why is Gallop silent on this issue.
Probably because the media haven't bothered to ask him about it.

News Ltd media are a joke
they're more interested in making a huge story out of a bit of biffo
i doubt one journo at the DT is actually a fan of the game
based on research was their latest excuse
they failed to answer what that research was though
Where were they doing that in Victoria...The MCG,Or did they talk to a few of the nutters on Big Poofy?Nine were conducting survey polls earlier this year, partly to use as fodder in upcoming negotiations.

TACKLE 5: Nine screws league again
The failure of the Nine network to show the Storm-Sea Eagles game live into Melbourne and other non-traditional states once again proves Nine is not a suitable broadcast partner for the NRL. The Storm-Sea Eagles clash was a battle between first and second, between two arch-rivals, with the minor premiership on the line. It played out in just an intense manner with the wild brawl set to be one of the lasting images of the season. With Seven telecasting the forecast blowout between Fremantle and Collingwood, many Melburnians would have given rugby league a shot, at least through the first half when the AFL match had not even started. Nine does nothing but inhibit rugby league’s growth and should not be considered by the new commission when the television deal is negotiated. The commission must also ensure a deal is done with Foxtel that all matches are simulcast on pay television live as they will be for the AFL from 2012 so that league fans across Australia can get access to matches live.
channel 9 are run by afl fans its as simple as that
i rang to complain a few years back and they told me to move to sydney they are idiots and they really dont care what people want
btw if the game was live ratings would be huge theres nothing on between 7:30 and 8:30 so who knows maybe a lot of people may have kept it onto the finish
Rothfeldsman comes out with sensationaist crap like the Manly and Melbourne brawl was the worst he's ever seen.
This from a so-called experienced journo who was around when Manly and Newtown went toe-to-toe in the 81 semi and of the course all the others from that era.
As Zorba said this morning, the brawl we saw the other night was a dinner party compared to the 81 semi.
Sensationalist crap. Rothfeld is a disgrace.
....
Produced by AFL Media, The Final Story tells the stories behind the 1971, '81, '91 and 2001 Grand Finals through the players and coaches involved in some of the game's most memorable matches.

Nine is proud to maintain its commitment to broadcasting quality AFL specials for footy fans," said Tim Cleary, Nine's head of content.
