Doueihi has a great kicking game mate.

He could use some work on his grubbers, but beyond that his years as a rugby fly half have made him pretty damn good at kicking for field position.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised there

I really wasn’t convinced by his kicking against Wigan. A lot of those repeat sets were faults of the Wigan back 3. I’m definitely keen to be proven wrong though.

On another note does anybody know where Turner is? Does he have a bad injury?

I don't like the look of Farah in 14, hopefully it's because Sutton is in the starting 13 but seeing that side and the weekends game, it looks like our hookers may be splitting the minutes again this season.

I thought that too. Maybe it’s the last throw of the dice for both. Cook would seem slight favourite

I wouldn’t worry until round 1 team lists are released. Seibold has said in interviews that the trials will be used to determine who plays in the number 9 role. He’s also said he wants an 80 minute hooker. If Farah plays first grade it’ll probably be as a utility that can cover the second row, halves and hooker. If there’s no injuries then he’ll probably just cover lock for 20 minutes.

We've got Sutton who offers much more from the bench and can cover enough positions to allow a reshuffle without playing anyone out of position. If Farah is there, i feel it means he'll spend time at hooker and be a wasted change. Our pack is at it's best when we have 4 forwards on the bench.

We’ve got the forward depth. 4 would be good. Sutton, Chricton Britt, Clarke Tatola, George, Nicholas Musgrove, Turner, etc

My spin on it is they can't compete for the spot if only one of them is playing.
I did read an article though in the last week that said Seibold is still unsure how to cover the hooking roll if the Hooker does down and we don't have one on the bench.
I would have thought with Doueihi on the bench (if he's ready) he can cover centre, halves, lock Hooker.
Could even push Cody or Reno into Hooker in an emergency and Doueihi in the halves

1. AJ
2. Kennar
3. Gagai
4. Hunt
5. Jennings
6. Walker
7. Doueihi
8. Tom
9. Cook
10. Sam (first 20 at prop then move him to back row when Nicholls comes on)
11. Sutton
12. Fuimaono
13. Murray

14. Farah
15. Nicholls
16. George
17. Musgrove
18. Graham
19. Clark
20. Tracey
21. Turner
22. Burns

Maybe Tatola will be added late...
Well I got the backline right plus Doueihi at 7.....

I knew it'd happen.

Doueihi is more ready than Tracey and he's dangerous and eats up the metres when running the ball plus his kicking game is good for a young bloke.

Tracey to me seems a bit underdone but he's playing well but Doueihi is a step ahead imo...

I predict Doueihi to get a bench spot for 2019 and Tracey to go elsewhere....

So without:

GI
Graham
Arthars
AR
Crichton
Murray
Turner (what's wrong with him)

The injuries are a concern!

I'm happy for Nicholls. He really earnt his starting spot once more. If he tears in this week you'd have to have him in the 17 for round 1.

Also congrats to Tatola who no one on here seems to have recognised for his efforts last week. He's a wrecking ball and he's fast. Ok he still needs to tidy up a few things but he could be special.... 10 for 112m last week and he will keep Musgrove on his toes.....

Also I don't want Hunt playing the whole game at centre... I'd prefer him on a wing for half the game as I'd prefer him in the 17 over Jennings.... Hunt is a safer option and better defensively and with his positioning etc....

I saw him play in a rugby carnival 2/3 years ago and his distance kicking was a class above.

Even in Bears last year he was taking the right option nearly every time.

His short kicking game is probably his biggest weakness

Cam Murray into hooker, Sam or possibly even Sutton to lock?

He's rethinking it...

I was under the impression he's played a bit of hooker before.
Either way, in the unlikely event of our 9 going down during the match, we only need to have someone who can pass the ball from dummy half and stick tackles with our props. Keep the rest of the side on the field as strong as possible.

Farah doesn’t have to play for the bears either unless he wants too. Seibold should be telling everyone that the best possible 17 will be playing. I think quality players will be missing the 17 every week and that’s just the problem with having depth.

In my opinion keeping Sutton in the 17 blocks Doueihi from being in first grade. In the modern game you must have at least 2 props on the bench. Let’s say the bench looks like this with Sutton and Doueihi.

14. Doueihi/Farah
15. Crichton
16. Sutton
17. Gurgess

We will get absolutely massacred by bigger packs. The twins can’t play big minutes so it’s just gonna be awful. But then you take Sutton or Doueihi out and you’ve got a really good bench.

14. Doueihi/Sutton
15. Crichton
16. Gurgess
17. Tatola/Musgrove

There’s gonna be some upsets round 1 and I think it’s gonna be a real test to see how Seibold deals with it.

I think Doueihi has to be patient this year. Barring injuries to the top 17 I don’t see him getting much NRL time this year.

That’s similar to my take on it. We’ve got the depth now, new kids are hungry and out to impress under a new coach. The need for 2 hookers is pointless. 4 forwards should be fine.
What’s interesting is that everyone still has Farah on their minds which shows 100% faith in Cook hasn’t been reached. I guess when neither Buderus or Ennis will commit to either one as a full time hooker (fox commentary) it shows that neither are right for the job
I like the idea @Travitoh mentioned with Murray at hooker. At least the defence would be solid, in an injury crisis sure but I can’t see it otherwise.
