I think Doueihi has to be patient this year. Barring injuries to the top 17 I don’t see him getting much NRL time this year.

Well for me it comes down to Sutton. If the coach plays Sutton then Doueihi will have to wait and I don’t know how patient he will be. There’s a few teams on the hunt for a 5/8th.

That’s similar to my take on it. We’ve got the depth now, new kids are hungry and out to impress under a new coach. The need for 2 hookers is pointless. 4 forwards should be fine.
What’s interesting is that everyone still has Farah on their minds which shows 100% faith in Cook hasn’t been reached. I guess when neither Buderus or Ennis will commit to either one as a full time hooker (fox commentary) it shows that neither are right for the job
I like the idea @Travitoh mentioned with Murray at hooker. At least the defence would be solid, in an injury crisis sure but I can’t see it otherwise.

I think the main reason that everyone’s talking about Farah is that he’s on 600k a year and it’ll be frustrating to see it go to the bears. But everyone’s on here agrees that 1 hooker is the best way to go. Murray filling in at hooker is quite a solid idea considering Surgess can shift to lock and we’ll already have 2 second rowers in the bench. We have some real size and power this year so I think it’s in our best interest to use it. Nicholls has a really nice offloading game as well and I think he’s a bolter for the starting 13. I’d be using Sutton this year and giving Doueihi a shot around origin time when all our origin players go. Say Gagai, GI and possibly even Crichton. Doueihi will benefit playing 80 minutes with the big boys at the bears as well.

If Seibold uses the 17 that I think he’ll use that leaves out Doueihi, Turner, Clark and Farah. Also one of Musgrove or Tatola will probably miss out as well.

Musgrove should be used if fully fit off the bench. I think he has played his best footy when being used as an impact player.

Out of curiosity, where are you getting 600k from? The only number i'd heard in online rumours was 450k.

As for the utility role, I can't see how having Doueihi is any less of a waste than having Farah.

Fuimaono can cover centres and Sutton can cover halves in the event of an injury.

Do we really want to sacrifice our firepower in the forwards each week on the off chance that Cook gets injured?

Was FINALLY able to look at the line up as a cyclone has come through NZ and we were without power for the whole night last night so the WiFi was down.

Pretty happy with it too. Can't wait to see some of our stars back against quality opposition as we build to Round 1.

Murray must be injured as he'd 100% be there otherwise.

I'm absoulutely hissing for this game!

From what I’ve read I believe it to be 200k in the first year with the tigers subsidising the rest and then a 400k increase in the last with tigers subsidising nothing. This is from a guy on another forum that I’ve found to be pretty reliable but none of us really know. I just find it hard to believe that a rep hooker would accept anything beneath 500k.

I completely agree with you I’m just trying to say that you can’t really have more than one of Farah, Sutton or Doueihi without playing less than 2 props which makes the bench a lot less stronger. That’s the point I was trying to get across in all my ramble lol.

Eh, it's all rumour talk. Who would know lol

I totally agree about the Sutton/Farah/Doueihi stuff. There's no point having someome to cover the backs/hooker in an emergency if it's going to hurt our forward rotation.

That's why I'd be going with Sutton. Legit back rower who can play 5/8 if needed (even played a bit of hooker in the 2014 GF if we get desperate)

Exactly! I kind of hope Farah is on more as well because that means we can go big in the player market next year lol.

Yeah I agree. We really need a big year from Sutton. He won’t have to play in the most intense part of the game, being the first 20 minutes. Tom, Nicholls, Fui/Crichton, Sam and Murray will be putting in the hard yards and laying the platform and Sutton can do what he does best and run great lines off Walker. Hopefully he goes out on a high and we crack into the top 8. I hope he stays around the club in an off field role for years to come.

Here's another line of thought.... Doueihi in the centres? Didn't he play some centre in the World Cup.
Gags to the wing.
Then we can carry the extra forward and still have cover with Doueihi.
When Gi is ready to go back to FB , Gags comes back to centre.

Not a bad idea and one that i thought would be considered but i get the feeling that he'd be there in the trials if that were the case. I get a sense that the club want to give him every opportunity to develop as a half which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Farah doesn’t have to play for the bears either unless he wants too. Seibold should be telling everyone that the best possible 17 will be playing. I think quality players will be missing the 17 every week and that’s just the problem with having depth.

In my opinion keeping Sutton in the 17 blocks Doueihi from being in first grade. In the modern game you must have at least 2 props on the bench. Let’s say the bench looks like this with Sutton and Doueihi.

14. Doueihi/Farah
15. Crichton
16. Sutton
17. Gurgess

We will get absolutely massacred by bigger packs. The twins can’t play big minutes so it’s just gonna be awful. But then you take Sutton or Doueihi out and you’ve got a really good bench.

14. Doueihi/Sutton
15. Crichton
16. Gurgess
17. Tatola/Musgrove

There’s gonna be some upsets round 1 and I think it’s gonna be a real test to see how Seibold deals with it.
Well if Farah doesn't make our best 17 I think he has to play for Norths and show the right attitude tbh.

I can't see there being a spot for Doueihi at the start of the season... if one of our halves go down he's straight in the week after, I've no doubts about that.

Sutto will be there imo. Who knows to start the season Sutto may start and Crichton on the bench..... in fact I'd rather Angus off the bench..... bring him on after 20mins and he can be an X factor.

If Nicholls does his job this week and can make day 90metres and make his tackles well he's got that starting prop role locked down for round 1.

Also keep an eye on Tatola. Something is there in him...

My round 1 side currently has Murray off the bench....... can't just thrust him into the action at the start with not even a trial under his belt..

My round 1 side: (expecting GI to not be there until round 2 but when he is Hunt to the wing pushing Jennings to standby) don't know what's up with Turner but you'd expect him to have a hit out with the Bears first when he's back)

1. AJ
2. Kennar
3. Gagai
4. Hunt
5. Jennings
6. Cody
7. AR
8. Tom
9. Cook
10. Nicholls
11. Sutton
12. Fuimaono
13. Sam (C)

14. Crichton
15. George
16. Murray
17. Musgrove

18. Farah
19. Clark
20. Tatola
21. Burns

That's what it's looking like to me but who knows??

If Doueihi plays well against St Merge. Is it necessary to replace him with Reynolds for Rd1 for the sake of replacing him with Reynolds?
