Again you miss the point. Neither player should be sacked and most people who have played, coached or supported RL like a quiet one but do we get so drunk we lose our memories, do we get so drunk that we want to cause a scene or a fight, do we get so drunk that we get into our cars to drive home and take a chance that we may not injure or kill someone?? There has to be consequences for our own actions if not then we accept that behaviour to be normal. Both should have been dropped and the coach told to control his players or the club will find someone who will. Our lack of discipline, our current culture is being reflected by our on field performances especially over the last 3 seasons and surely nobody supporting the club is happy with that. Mark my words this team and club are divided and we are no chance of playing semi finals football again this season.
The fixation on our club is blinding people about what happens at other clubs and the notion that successful clubs have no off field issues and that off field issues are what precludes us from playing semi final football is simply laughable.

Penrith had player issues under Cleary
Broncos under Bennett
Storm under Bellamy
Manly under Hassler
Cronulla under Flanagan
Cronulla under Morris
Dogs in Coffs Harbour
Cowboys under Payten
Knights under several coaches
Titans under several coaches
Raiders under Sticky
Qld SOO under Walters and others
NZ national side
Kangaroo sides
FFS we had it under Frank Facer

It’s not a new phenomenon and will never be stamped out.

Rava & Musgrove wouldn’t trouble the Richter scale in the real world.

Over the top with suspending them for a game. Typical of the lynch mob just like the media. Fine sufficient and that too would still hurt for having a wrestle or argument that started in your hotel room and went to the hallway
Being drunk..not a great look after a loss that now has made public by media due to someone from the hotel? club? putting it on line.. but it was private function and 1/2 the young population may of had too much on a Saturday night
Did you call for Mitchell and Wighton to be banned from the AllStars. That was more of an embarrasment which involved outsiders watching and police called supposedly.
Not even sure if they got fined by their clubs
I did say both those high profile players be suspended because they were actually arrested. It just sends the wrong message to our children who idolise our NRL heroes. They did get fined but the Dragons lack discipline both on and off the field and our culture is toxic and that's one reason an avg of 8,000 people turned up to watch them at Kogarah last season even the A league matches drew a bigger crowd. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so we will agree to disagree amicably on this subject.

The entire sport is riddled with bad behaviour in all areas of the game.

Players, coaches, administrators, managers, medical staff across a broad range of clubs have been found guilty of various misdemeanours

Our club is no different to any other and never will be and the sad reality is that our club has always had players misbehaving right throughout its existence.
Bad behaviour is not confined to league. Other codes have issues, including soccer, rugby union, cricket, gridiron and plenty of others.

I'm very concerned about our club our performances our discipline and our culture. Of course other clubs have issues but the fact of the matter is in the RL World nobody wants to play for us.

IMO its not good enough. Especially when your away from home, representing your club, your team mates, the Illawarra community, your family and yourself.
Six oclock in the morning and still too drunk to rememeber what happened ?? (I know,,, he probably can remember, but its a convenient excuse isn't it).
On the back of recent and very serious previous poor player behavior, I believe the club should act accordingly and terminate both players immediately.
The lack of player control and disclipline (off the field) at the Dragons is disgraceful and is a senior management responsibility. Which we apparently don't have.

Ironically, I thought that Sloan had a worse game yesterday than he did in the swamp last year against the Sharks after which Hook sent him to Coventry so to speak. He looked anxious and was probably trying too hard to impress. He just dug a bigger and bigger hole for himself.
Credit to Hook for now publicly declaring he will be our number one but it may be too late for the two of them as a coach/player team -Hook should have said that last year but wanted Cody. Like everyone I'm willing Sloan to succeed and just hope that he can regain his confidence.
If there is such a thing as a old 20 year old or a young one I’d put Sloan in the young class. I really think he needs this year & some of next on the wing Just like a lot of great players when they first entered first grade in the past.

The actual incident is nothing really, blokes can have a disagreement and it's all forgotten the next day, but players still out on the piss at 6am, 12 hours after the game finished, three weeks before their season kicks off speaks to bigger problems within the club and playing group, especially when they were away representing the club.

I agree with both of you. It is a problem now and it has always been a problem. The list you've provided demonstrates that it 'goes with the territory'. The difference these days is that even the smallest incident is reported in almost real-time. Now, everybody sees what's going on behind the scenes.

It's true that all sports have these sorts of problems. Sportspeople are, by definition, young. These days they also earn big bucks. Silly incidents are almost inevitable.

On a tangent, not that there's any suggestion of it in the Mudgee incident: personally, I think the popularisation and sanitisation of substance abuse - especially coke - should be dealt with much more severely. It's a class A narcotic - not a 'party drug' by any stretch of the imagination. Some of these young 'football stars' and their young fans are heading into lifelong problems with their indulgence in this crap. I've seen this first-hand on several occasions. Talented young people who's lives are destroyed. The NRL peak body needs to take a really strong position on this particular issue IMO.

Don’t forget the Roosters, SOO & Kangaroos captain who racially abused a member of the public while out on the drink which was very quickly swept under the carpet.

Losing & the style of footy they play would be the main reason for poor crowds. IMO

This are a multitude of reasons why we dont get players, I would say that what we are willing to offer in payments and non existant TPA's are the primary reason, thats why we have just about the lowest paid coach in the NRL if not the lowest. I dont dismiss that culture and discipline etc do play their part, but we are nowhere near the business savvy club that the sombrero wearers are, and probably never will be.

My understanding from an old mate still involved with a club is in the real RL world no player managers are advising their clients to go anywhere near us because of our discipline, culture and most importantly that we are not competitive
