Thought it was a fairly routine win. Did just enough whenever it was needed.
Ref was rubbish - Ake = yellow card, Grimmer = nothing? I think he got caught up in Shrewsburys occasion.

MOTM Drogba. Worked hard, got on the end of everything and nice finish for his goal. Good performance in the target-man role from the old guy.

Cahill had a dodgy start but grew into it, while Zouma was immense for an hour then seemed to slip into sloppy habits (it doesn't matter how incredible your physicality is, you have to get into position before going for the ball; something Mangala is finding out in much more spectacular fashion over at City).

Luis again looked good; there will be a real battle between our LBs this season as both are excellent (if very different) footballers.

Good to see Ake and Christensen getting 90 minutes. Neither looked out of place. They are young players who are of the quality to hold down a squad place, and have the potential to be more. Good to see.

Those criticising the lack of other young players may have a point, but I feel you would have seen more had we been at home; today showed that any away tie in English football can be tough and Jose was probably right to show as much respect to the opponents as he did with his selection. Shrewsbury were organised and worked hard, they were tough, physical, fearless and played their game; so credit to them for making the game as hard as it was.

The subs made an instant difference without either having to do anything particularly outstanding at all, which is probably more a criticism of the players who were replaced. Both will have to improve if they want to stay at the club, because that double sub showed the difference between players who are good enough for our first team and players who are making up the numbers.

Good to see Willian getting a vital assist in a game. End product is the (completely fair) knock on him, and given his quality he should be making the difference more often. So again, good to see.

I only saw the first half, as Setanta Plus wouldn't work on the train. Saleh looked like he was wearing two left boots

I wasn't surprised to see Cahill starting, as Shrewsbury still deserve respect as you say. We only did what we needed to though, and the lads would have been disappointed to concede

Setanta Plus!!! OMG. I forgot I had it. Just rocked up late instead.

The Egyptian Torres took a bit to get going, he was better in the second half. When Willian came on though he showed he is so much better.

Wirey seems to have caught the attention whore's Mourinho complex

He's at least trying to make sense though, even though he's wrong

Just so happened we played you over the weekend. Any other time, I don't really comment on Chelsea.

I made a point to see what you lot thought.

Out of intetrest , why do you disagree? You obviously watch more Chelsea than me.

Haffa just puts up silly pictures and I don't think even understands the point, so not really interested what he has to say to be honest.

I disagree because Mourinho's strategy was a matter of seconds away from being proved completely correct, despite Dowd's efforts

Lol, you made a statement that we were nothing special and the negative tactics will cost us the league and champions league.

I addressed your point a few times.

I disagree that sitting back was the wrong option, it was 60 seconds from working. I agree that Mikel was the wrong sub though and if Ramires was available he would have been a better option. I don't think the tactics were to completely cede possession which we did for a portion. For a portion they struggled to find the balance between sitting back and counter attacking. That comes with experience and we are certainly better at it this season than last.

A point away from home against decent opposition isn't a bad thing though.

So a 36 year old Drogba has more goals than Balotelli & Falcao. Not bad for a third choice option.

Off to Derby for the next round of the C1C. Joint leaders of the Championship, so the lads will have to have their wits about them

The match is sandwiched between League games v Hull and Stoke, so it shouldn't strain the squad too much

Wireman stop being an arrogant tit. You aren't always right.
Its not arrogance, I just know more about football than you. ;-)
Lol wireman..

Nice trolling..

Say unkind things about Jose, works every time :)
It is funny.
Chelsea fans get wound up about digs at Jose, even when they admit Jose got it wrong.

So what are you disagreeing with me about?
Jose made the decisions, he went back to being to negative and it cost him.
60 seconds from working? That means it didn't work.
Not for the first time, not for the last.

Next time it may get you knocked out of a comp or cost you a league. After all leagues have been lost on goal difference before.

What a shame that Wirey appears to be taking a leaf out of the attention whore's book

The value of his opinion is free-falling
