Cbf going further back.

The last 3 seasons

Total brought - 276.8 mill
Total sold - 56.6 mill

Net last 3 seasons approximately 220.2 mill pounds.

You give any team in the top 6 or 7, that isn't managed by Mancini, 220 million pounds and they'd walk the league.

Fwiw,

Arsenal in the same time: -2.15 mill pounds
Spurs in the same time: - 10.35 mill pounds

Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs

Except Liverpool, but then again we're not even top 6 or 7 anymore

I think all that money Dalglish spent on Henderson, Downing and Carrolol had kinda put the owners off a bit. I'm sure if Rodgers had been given 100mill to spend he would do a lot better.

In saying that, he has spent close to 50 already and Sturridge is the only decent pick up so far. Haven't seen enough of Coutinho to make a judgement yet.

What point are you even trying to make?

That the wages of Anelka, Drogba, Ballack and Cole etc. were so substantial that they not only dwarfed the wages of the players that replaced them but also wiped out the 200+ million net that they've spent on transfers in the same time?

Haffa said they haven't had unlimited funds since 2007. I'd say spending 270 mill on players in three years is as close as you're going to get.

Would be interested to know how many clubs have spent more than, or even close to, that in the same time frame. I don't even think City would come close, they seemed to have slowed down the last year or two.

Has any team ever won the Europa League/UEFA Cup the year after winning the Champions League?

Given that Chelsea were the first holders to be knocked out in the group stage, I doubt it

And given that the Europe final is always held before the CL final, we could potentially hold both titles at the same time. I doubt that would happen again for a while
