How do you do that without cheating the Salary Cap genius? Both Stewarts, both halves, the hooker, Watmough, Matai all uncovered by Manly. I'd like to know how you can pay them all what they're worth?

Well my fellow genuis, obviously you f**king cant.

The way I see it is that if Manly don't increase his contract a respectable amount he will leave after his contract expires anyway, if Manly do right by him and pay him what he's worth before they need to I believe he will be there to stay for the long term.

Exactly, if they thought he was gonna happily hang around for the next 2 years and earn only 210k when there are clubs that would pay him close to a mil perhaps more for two years then they are f**king living in la la land, especially since the coach that brought him into FG is gone.

I mean its a shame for Manly if he is squeezed out cause of the cap but boo f**king hoo, every club has to deal with this.

So you're blaming Manly management for something that you've just admitted is impossible? No-one could've imagined how good DCE was going to turn out, not even his stupid douchenozzle of a manager. Except you of course.

Incorrect, only successful clubs have to deal with it. Souths, Penrith, Canberra, Titans, Parra, Dogs etc haven't lost anyone worth keeping in a long, long time.

Feliti Mateo? If we keep Mateo, Inu, Kingston and Lowrie in 2012 we would have been a vastly different side - and well over the salary cap.

Its impossible to pay them all what they are worth, but you can keep some of them, genius, imo DCE should be at the top of that list so if they lose him then of course its their fault, either they didnt free up enough cash or they decided he was not a priority and took care of other players first. There are some other factors I guess but money is the main thing.

Of course they didnt know how he would turn out, but they have known since the season ended how good he is and that he is only making 85k next season, so they have had months to work it out, if not for an upgrade this season then atleast one for next year.

f**k me you sound butthurt, its the salary cap and despite what you think even shit clubs lose players, so dry your eyes princess cause u might lose DCE but other good players will come along.

Why should they have freed up cash? The bloke is contracted for 3 years, it's reasonable to think no more money would be needed until that 3 years was up. Also, Des agreed to terms with the Dogs in August and then negotiated contracts tying up a lot of cap space to resign blokes like King, Kite, Rose, etc. The club didn't know Des had agreed to leave so didn't suspect anything untoward. The club can't be held responsible for that since coaches are often in charge of retention and recruitment.

Lol blame Dessie then. It must be his fault DCE isnt happy earning less then some NYC players. Like i said if they thought he wasnt gonna ask for more money then they are dumb f**ks, plain and simple, we are talking 300 or 400 thousand dollars more a season if he gets the release, i doubt there is a player in the NRL who would not ask for a release if they were in his position.

Basically after last season thinking that they didnt have to free up more cash for DCE is not a reasonble expectation. Thats just dumb.

I'm not hurting at all. I understand how the Salary Cap works, you obviously live in a fantasy land where it's easy to just bump up someone's contract the following year even though clubs would budget well in advance. The only thing you can blame the Manly management for is letting Des Hasler do all the negotiating. Something which they tried to curb, and will no longer be an issue.

I know how the Salary Cap works, my team's won 2 premierships in 4 years, it's the Salary Cap's purpose to diminish that success. Something your club probably knows nothing about.

lol I think anyone saying Manly should release him so he can resign with them for more money is a f**kwit. What is this crap? He still has two years on his contract, where do he and his manager expect the money to come from ? Does he want his team mates to be released just because he isn't having second year syndrome?

Manly obviously have a recruitment and retention plan to let players go at certain times, I find it crap that he and his manager can wake up one day and say "hey I think we should ask for a release to a contract I negotiated and you signed because I think you're worth more now after winning that competition".

Herp de derp greedy merkins.

And if he didn't resign any of those blokes you pricks would just have something else to whinge about

Pretty much. I don't disagree that he is worth more money and by offering a better deal now the club stands a better chance of signing him long term. However, if tehy signed him for $250k per season over 3 years and he turned out to be a dud should the club be allowed to turn around 2 weeks into the second season and say we want to cut your salary back to $80k because that's all we feel you're worth and if you went to another club that's about all you'd get? No way, people have to live with the decisions they make, no other club wanted him so Manly put a lot of faith in him to sign him for more than 1 or 2 seasons.

You could've kept all those guys surely? Didn't you shed those guys to help you squeeze in Sandow for 550k a year? Also signed Tonga.

I never said it was easy to free up cash but its their Job, if they cant do it then why shouldnt they get the blame? Should DCE get the blame for looking after himself financially? Should the other club get the blame for trying to improve?

And again, all clubs lose players due to cap issues, Penrith cant even keep their average juniors most the of time cause our cap management has been so bad.

And stop blaming Dessie you weak merkins, he is at another club. If they allowed him to f**k the cap up so badly that they free up any money then thats their own fault.
